Wallace S. Smith Elementary is a K-5 school located in Ooltewah, TN, just outside of Chattanooga. We are a diverse and high performing school that offers a sense of family and provides a nurturing environment for students. Many extracurricular activities are available for students and teachers such as: science olympiad, student leadership, school musical, sports, news team, flag team, and safety patrol. Our school offers many leadership opportunities for students and teachers. Teachers from our school have gone on to be principals, assistant principals, district curriculum specialists and instructional coaches. Our ideal teaching candidates: Are skilled at communicating with students, faculty and staff Provide standards-driven instruction Encourage student engagement Work collaboratively with grade level team members, coaches and administration Are transparent regarding their teaching practice and willing to collaborate regarding instruction and data Continuously look for ways to assist students who have and have not yet mastered content Are willing to think outside the box Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess effective instruction aligned to Tennessee state standards Design engaging lessons with clear objectives and measurable outcomes Differentiate instruction to meet the needs of all learners Collaborate regularly with colleagues and support staff Build strong, respectful relationships with students and families Create a well-managed, structured classroom environment Participate in ongoing professional development and reflection Link to full Job Descriptions What We’re Looking For: Positive, student-focused educators with strong content and classroom management skills Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities Committed to high expectations and academic achievement for all students Open to feedback, coaching, and continuous growth Experience in Title I or high-need school settings is a plus Passion for supporting the whole child academically and socially Qualifications Requirements: Bachelor's degree required Valid Tennessee teaching license in Elementary Education (K-5) OR current enrollment in an accredited teacher preparation program Compensation & Additional Info: Salary Scale based on education and experience – starting at $50,000.00 Eligible positions may qualify for additional pay under the Differentiated Compensation Plan Benefits Licensure Subject to change.
