About the Role

The Automotive industry is going through an incredible transformation where new business models across the ecosystem are evolving to incorporate players from across the spectrum. Harman Automotive Engineering Services is looking for a leader to redefine the way we engage with our customers and refine what we deliver by leveraging our Software Services offerings, aligning them with our customers' vision and needs.

 

This role will execute the Vision and Growth Strategy for the Software Service Business, driving sales and delivering integrated solutions through both organic and inorganic resources and investment. This role will deliver integrated solutions that support the transformation of Harman Automotive Business across various automotive domains as part of the Global Executive leadership team responsible for building the next generation of Harman Business.

This role will report into the Vice President and General Manager for Automotive Engineering Services business and would be the leader for all Engineering and Sales teams in Chengdu, Shanghai, and other Automotive Engineering Services locations in China. This role will be a blend of Engineering and Sales Leadership, combining the capabilities of customer interface and relationship management with Engineering leadership for ongoing and future projects. This role requires to travel within and outside China every alternate month. This is a critical global leadership role with a major impact on the overall performance of the business unit. This role will be a mix of someone with the commercial acumen of reaching the number targets for the Automotive business as well an established leader in the automotive space capable making the business successful. The role demands someone with a proven and tested rolodex in the Automotive OEM and Automotive industry. The key to this role is to transform the engagement model with our customers into an advisory and consulting relationship to allow superior customer satisfaction.

 

What You Will Do

 

The individual will drive the following:

  • Champion the growth and success of the Automotive Services business by improving industry positioning, diversity in offerings, and overall development of the business.
  • Refine and institutionalize the SBU’s Sales Governance Model with clear milestones which are strategically aligned to Harman Automotive’s vision.
  • Catapult Growth and Partnership tenets of the Sales Organization to think beyond the conventional Automotive market and include a larger ecosystem of organizations to redefine the positioning of the Automotive Services SBU.
  • Build and nurture Best-in-Class teams which embodies the key features of the Harman’s Cultural Transformation mindset to impact customer success and the overall growth of the Automotive Services business.
  • Represent Automotive Services SBU and act as a partner for the larger Harman Automotive leadership teams in common pursuits and shared responsibilities of Customer Success, Customer Retention, and overall growth.
  • Drive the growth of the SBU by charting strategies to acquire new customer relationships within the OEM and Automotive ecosystem.
  • Portfolio growth (Profitable, Sustainable P&L) & Offerings Development 
    • Develop and amplify Market Attractive offerings with Integrated approach of Harman Automotive products and Solution. (Region specific, priorities and Account specific)
    • Develop new Engagement models to suit accelerated growth. 
  • Business Model Development & Execution
  • Business Contingency Planning centered on geopolitical shifts
  • Strategic Market Control points in the evolving Automotive supplier value chain
  • Partnership led Joint Model execution. 
  • Technology and Business Model Adjacency Acquisition or JV

  

What You Need to Be Successful

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in electronics, embedded programming, software engineering, Mathematics or related disciplines
  • 22-26 Years of Experience in Consultative Sales, Strategy, Engineering & Software Delivery, Transformation, within the Software Product and Services Industry.
  • 10-15 Years of Experience in working with Automotive software products and services which includes working with Automotive OEMs.
  • Experienced as a Strategic Advisor, to build and develop trusted relationships with clients and work internally across distributed teams to bring clients the most comprehensive, end-to-end services to effectively address their projects.
  • Experience in leading and managing executive sponsorship management with customers evaluating the existing deal risks and dependencies.
  • Proven track record of funnel creation along with regulating and stabilizing funnel velocity with a hyperfocus on achieving targets. 
  • Someone with keen insights into the overall deal closure status and mentoring the sales teams on deal closure strategies adapting to customer specific, industry specific, and geopolitical challenges.
  • Experienced in crafting win strategies and customer challenges as a priority for the business and collaboration with the distributed teams within organizations, leveraging the assets and intellectual properties.
  • Expert in building, developing and owning relationships with business, engineering and technology stakeholders, executives of clients.
  • Knowledge of modern electronic in vehicle architectures.
  • Further language skills such as Chinese, German, or Korean
