Job description
The Farm Compliance Auditor evaluates pig production facilities for compliance with animal biosecurity, welfare, health, and production process from breeding to finishing, often based on existing Pilmico SOPs for Swine Operations. Likewise, this role is responsible for conducting the same evaluation for the Layer business, but includes auditing and compliance assessment related to food safety, such as HACCP.
The goal of the Farm Compliance Auditor is to ensure that swine and layer operations meet industry-standard, legal and customer-defined criteria regarding animal welfare, biosecurity, food safety, and environmental regulations.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Audit On-Site Standards
Conduct on-farm audits, inspect sites for compliance with internal Pilmico Farms SOP, legal regulations, industry standards and internal quality requirements.
Handling Procedures: Observe animal handling at a walking pace, ensuring practices minimize stress, aggression, or welfare compromise.
Identify areas of risk and evaluate the effectiveness of current controls.
Ensure frequent and strategic on‑site presence to validate compliance with SOPs, and ensure real‑time visibility of production and biosecurity practices.
Assess and confirm that actual on‑farm practices consistently align with all documented SOPs, standards, and approved operational procedures across farm operations.
Biosecurity & Health Audits
Verify biosecurity and herd health management procedures and ensure compliance during audits, verify strict adherence of farm personnel to all biosecurity protocols during every farm visit to prevent disease introduction, amplification, or transfer.

Assess herd health management procedures by reviewing the execution of health‑related SOPs and observing daily routines to ensure alignment with documented standards and preventive health protocols.
Assess staff behaviors and biosecurity discipline through direct on‑site observation, ensuring that personnel follow required biosecurity practices.
Animal Welfare Standards
Assess welfare indicators based on standards and documented practices as indicated in Pilmico Farms SOP manual, covering all life stages from breeding to finishing.
Assess handling, housing, environmental conditions, and behavioral indicators to ensure alignment with internal and regulatory expectations.
Identify welfare risks and recommend improvements to strengthen humane handling and care.
Corrective Action Plans
Work with swine vet services and production to produce / develop corrective and preventive action plans to improve compliance, address deficiencies, and manage the close-out of non-conformances.
Verify CAPA effectiveness through follow‑up audits.
Lead and participate in regulatory, third-party, and customer audits, ensuring the timely execution and completion of all subsequent corrective actions and reports.
Provide clear, evidence‑based recommendations to improve compliance and operational discipline.
Training and Education
Assist Animal Health and Farm Operations team in ensuring their audit-readiness by providing guidance to all team members of updated compliance policies and procedures.
Conduct regular training to team members on the basics of auditing to enable themselves to conduct self-audits.
Promote a culture of compliance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
On Document Management, Reports and Record Review
Act as the primary Document Controller for the organization, responsible for the efficient, timely, and accurate preparation and management of all critical SOP documentation.
Assess operational records for completeness, accuracy, and traceability, ensuring they reflect actual practices.
Prepare and present detailed monthly and quarterly audit reports to senior management with actionable recommendations.
Organize and maintain regulatory records and ensure documentation is audit‑ready at all times.
On Research and Regulatory Monitoring
Researching, understanding, and staying updated on government and industry-specific regulations.
Keep abreast of the industry trends and best practices by attending different industry forums and events.
Recommend updates to SOPs, audit frameworks, and compliance programs based on new regulatory or industry developments.
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree of any course
Experience:
At least 2 to 3 years experience in Audit and compliance related work
Other Requirements:
Excellent communication skills and fluent in English both written and spoken.
Competent in the use of G-suite or Microsoft Office programs.
Attention to Detail: Ability to review complex documents for inaccuracies.
With a strong background/Knowledgeable on Good Animal Husbandry Practices and other relevant food safety systems.
This work requires 100% onsite with instances where downtime is required.
