Summary
The Associate Dean of Nursing is a full-time administrator who provides vision, leadership, and operational oversight for the Nursing Programs, including Associate Degree Nursing, Licensed Practical Nursing, and Healthcare Professional to RN pathways, as well as supplemental oversight of the Certified Nursing Assistant Program. This role leads program assessment, development, evaluation, and continuous improvement to ensure compliance with Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN) standards.
Compensation for the Associate Dean- Nursing is $76,585.60 - $90,937.60 annually.

Essential Functions

- Maintain program accreditation by completing and submitting required paperwork, reports, and documentation, maintaining records, and ensuring the program meets or exceeds established standards.
- Act as a program and institutional representative by establishing and maintaining working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including clinical agencies, community organizations, and professional organizations, and by attending professional meetings and/or conferences.
- Develop, prepare, and monitor the program budget, ensuring responsible allocation and management of resources in alignment with institutional priorities.
- Facilitate assessment of program and course outcomes to enhance teaching, learning, and student success.
- Maintain and update student-centered program policies, handbook, web-based resources, and printed materials.
- Coordinate classroom, clinical, and laboratory/simulation instruction by creating and/or overseeing schedules, reviewing agreements, maintaining equipment, addressing concerns, consulting with faculty, and evaluating settings.
- Work closely with program faculty and the Dean to mediate conflict, recommend adjunct faculty for hire and assignments, provide guidance regarding accreditation standards, and arrange substitutes as needed.
- Mentor and coach faculty in the development of program goals, student learning outcomes, and the assessment of those goals and outcomes.
- Assist in the development of program policies regarding admissions, selection, evaluation, and retention of students.
- Admit qualified students within defined program capacity.
- Assist with the recruitment, professional development, and retention of faculty.
- Coordinate program curriculum by overseeing syllabi, support materials, facilities, equipment, textbook adoptions, clinical instruction, and regular program faculty meetings.
- Evaluate student graduation applications and submit appropriate waivers to the graduation office.
- Provide appropriate documentation to support student application for state or national certification/licensure.
- Assist in student recruitment by promoting and publicizing the program through personal contact, college promotional activities, and other appropriate media.
- Facilitate computerized testing.
- Advise current and prospective students regarding program requirements, admissions, individual needs and
- concerns, and student success planning, or refer students to appropriate departments such as Financial Aid or Student Services.
- Coordinate program-specific events, such as awards and recognition ceremonies and orientation activities.
- Foster a student-centered environment that supports academic success, retention, and professional development by proactively identifying student needs, providing coaching, and connecting students with appropriate resources and support services.
- Conduct exit interviews with students withdrawing from the program.
- Know, understand, and act in accordance with Illinois Central College's Mission, Vision, and Core Values by connecting with students, building relationships, acting promptly and professionally, and working collaboratively as a team.

Minimum Qualifications
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skills and abilities required to satisfactorily perform the essential duties and responsibilities.
- Master's Degree in Nursing.
- Current licensure as a Professional Registered Nurse in the State of Illinois.
- Minimum of five years of nursing instruction experience.
- Minimum of three years of clinical nursing experience.
- Prior academic leadership experience, such as course coordinator, program director/coordinator, department chair, or equivalent role.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and prioritization skills with the ability to manage multiple responsibilities effectively.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain cooperative, professional working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and external partners.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate Degree in Nursing.
- Certified Nurse Educator (CNE) credential.
- Experience teaching nursing in a community college setting.
