Your Role and Responsibilities Join our dynamic team as a Senior Data Engineering Consultant, where you will contribute to the design and development of cutting-edge Snowflake Data Cloud solutions. As part of our team, you will work on:
- Building data ingestion pipelines and architectures
- Ensuring robust data governance and security measures
- Driving data migration efforts and optimizing data systems You will take the lead in developing database architectures and data warehouses, ensuring consistency and optimal performance across customer projects. Your leadership will guide technical teams as we support our clients in their exciting next generation data initiatives. This position remains open following the acquisition of Hakkoda by IBM in April 2025. Your recruitment will be handled by IBM, which will be your hiring entity. This role can be performed from anywhere in the US. Required Technical and Professional Expertise
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, or a related field.
- Proven expertise in selecting and integrating ingestion technologies to overcome complex data challenges.
- Leadership experience in architectural decisions for high-throughput data ingestion frameworks, including real-time processing.
- Mentorship abilities for junior engineers on best practices in data ingestion, performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- 5+ years of experience in data management, database development, ETL, data warehousing, and pipelines.
- Experience in designing and developing data warehouses (such as Teradata, Oracle Exadata, Netezza, SQL Server, Spark).
- Proficiency in building ETL/ELT ingestion pipelines using tools like DataStage, Informatica, and Matillion.
- Strong SQL scripting skills.
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably AWS (Azure and GCP are also beneficial).
- Proficient in Python and Scala scripting.
- Ability to prepare reports and effectively present to internal and external stakeholders.
- A track record of strong problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, assertiveness, and the ability to foster strong client relationships.
- Able to work in Agile team environments.
- Experience in hiring, developing, and managing technical teams.
Preferred Technical and Professional Experience Familiarity with advanced features of the Snowflake Platform, including data sharing, data pipelines, and security, as well as the ability to design complex data and AI use cases on Snowflake. Proficiency in cloud architecture, with experience in designing secure, scalable cloud architectures for data and AI applications including best practices in cloud migration and management. Expertise in data engineering best practices covering data modeling, warehousing, and governance with the ability to optimize solutions for performance and scalability.
