Summary
Join our dynamic team as a Welder with the Department of the Navy! This position allows you to work at key naval shipyards including Portsmouth Naval Shipyard, Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, Trident Refit Facility Bangor, and Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard and Intermediate Maintenance Facility. Ideal candidates will be skilled in welding and can contribute positively within their respective teams.
Duties
- Identify and associate metals, alloys, and filler metals by color code and standard markings.
- Produce quality welds that meet acceptance standards for NDT, strength, and pressure tests.
- Utilize test methods for determining metals or alloys effectively.
- Inspect completed welding projects to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Operate various welding machines and utilize different welding processes to weld piping parts or structures.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.
- Must participate in the direct deposit pay program.
- Must successfully pass the E-Verify employment verification check.
- Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- This may be a bargaining unit position.
- Pre-appointment physical examination may be required.
- Obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty.
- This is a Drug Testing position; completion of a pre-employment drug test is mandatory.
- Personal protective equipment (PPE) may be required, including helmets, gloves, goggles, and safety shoes.
- Exposure to potentially harmful physical and chemical agents may be part of the job.
- Ability to travel to CONUS and OCONUS sites as needed, including remote locations.
- Ability to work uncommon hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays as required.
Qualifications
No specific length of experience is required; however, candidates must demonstrate the necessary skills and knowledge to perform the duties of the position effectively.
Applications will be evaluated on knowledge, skills, and abilities relevant to welding without the need for constant supervision.
