Job description
We currently have a vacancy for a Backend Data Engineer fluent in English, to offer his/her services as an expert who will be based in Ispra,Italy. The work will be carried out either in the company’s premises or on site at customer premises. In the context of the first assignment, the successful candidate will be integrated in the Development team of the company that will closely cooperate with a major client’s IT team on site. Tasks: Preparation of data extraction processes; Analysis of format and content of ad hoc open data sets at different spatial and temporal scales; Collect the data such as though dedicated services/APIs, ftp or generic web repositories; Analysis of the data format that could be CSV, tables, PDF, HTML, XML, JSON etc; Preparation of data transformation processes; Understand the structure and the represented information of the data collected; Preparation of data loading processes; Definition of the relevant metadata(In case of unstructured data) to characterise the associated tables/collections; Management of the SAEWF Toolbox databases, with all the different instances/environments (development, preproduction and production) or different use (complex frontend or simple/flat for the rest of tools); Development and maintenance of the data collection processes, which also include data quality implementation, notifications and automatic publication procedures; Review of data collection developments by other developers; Reporting of developed code, creation and maintenance of documentation (Confluence).
University degree in IT or relevant discipline, combined with minimum 9 years of relevant working experience in IT; At least 3 years of experience with databases, SQL, MQL; At least 3 years of experience Javascript, Typescript, NodeJS, MongoDB; At least 3 years of experience in ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) software; Very good knowledge of Javascript, Mongo shell, SQL; Good knowledge of MongoDB both at programming and administration level and Mongo Query Language (MQL); Good knowledge of Agile methodology; Knowledge of data formats: XML, XSD, PDF, CSV, XLS, JSON; Knowledge of version control systems: Git and JIRA bug tracking software; Excellent command of the English language.
