Job description

Overview: Connelly School of the Holy Child is seeking an experienced and passionate Upper School Social Studies Teacher to join our dedicated faculty. This role is pivotal in delivering an engaging and challenging social studies curriculum to high school students, encouraging critical thinking, global awareness, and a deep understanding of historical, political, and cultural contexts. Our school community values diverse experiences and backgrounds, aiming to empower our students to connect, belong, and grow. About Us: Connelly School of the Holy Child is a Catholic, college preparatory school that educates young women in grades 6 through 12. We emphasize academic challenge, a joy of learning, and leadership among young women through diverse and enriching experiences. Responsibilities: Planning and delivering comprehensive social studies lessons that align with curricular standards and meet diverse learning needs. Encouraging critical analysis, discussion, and inquiry among students regarding historical events, government, economics, and current affairs. Assessing student progress through various formative and summative evaluations. Integrating technology and multimedia resources to enrich the learning experience. Collaborating with fellow faculty to support interdisciplinary initiatives and school-wide programs. Advising and supporting students in their academic and personal growth. Participating actively in faculty meetings, professional development, and school community events.

Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in History, Social Studies Education, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred. Teaching certification in Social Studies or equivalent preferred. Demonstrated experience teaching social studies at the high school level. Strong knowledge of social studies content, with emphasis on Ancient and Early World History, and Art History. Interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students. Commitment to fostering an inclusive, diverse, and supportive learning environment. Proficiency in integrating technology into instruction. Alignment with the mission and values of Connelly School of the Holy Child.
