SUMMARY OF THE ROLE Sales Engineer Location: Marseille, France Are you a Sales Engineer who thrives on turning complex technical challenges into winning proposals? At Mammoet, we solve some of the world’s most complex heavy lifting and transport challenges. To support our continued expansion in France, we are looking for a driven Sales Engineer to lead the development of our commercial activities across France. This is a hands-on commercial role at the heart of our French business. You will use your engineering knowledge to engage with clients on a technical level, understand what they truly need, and translate that into competitive, accurate proposals, working closely with our internal engineering and operations teams to get it right. Reporting to the Managing Director of Mammoet France, you will work alongside experienced engineering and operations colleagues in an environment where technical depth and commercial drive go hand in hand. WHAT YOU’LL BE DOING As Sales Engineer, you are the crucial link between our clients and our internal teams. Where others see a complex technical challenge, you see an opportunity and you know how to turn that into a proposal that wins. Understanding client needs in technical terms and translating these into clear, accurate project proposals. Supporting the full sales process, from initial client contact and site visits to preparing and following up on offers. Maintaining regular contact with existing clients to identify new project opportunities and ensure customer satisfaction. Visiting client sites and project locations to assess requirements and gather technical input for our engineering and operations teams. Building relationships with both existing and new clients across key industries such as energy, petrochemicals, and infrastructure. Working closely with engineering and operations colleagues to develop technically sound and competitive project proposals. Managing contract preparation and bid submissions, taking an active role in commercial negotiations. Acting as the bridge between client and internal teams, ensuring client requirements are accurately understood and reflected in our proposals. Collaborating closely with engineering, operations, and international stakeholders. Keeping up to date with developments in the French market and flagging relevant opportunities to the team. Representing Mammoet at client meetings and industry events, actively expanding your network across key sectors. Maintaining accurate records of client interactions, opportunities, and proposal status in our CRM systems. WHAT YOU’LL NEED 1–3 years of experience in a Sales Engineer or technical sales role, with a proven ability to manage client relationships and develop proposals in a technical environment. A degree in engineering or a technical discipline (e.g., Civil, Mechanical, Industrial, or similar). A commercially driven mindset, you understand what clients need, how to position a solution, and what it takes to win a project. Strong ability to listen, ask the right questions, and communicate technical information clearly to different audiences. The ability to understand complex technical requirements and translate them into practical solutions and clear commercial proposals. Good interpersonal skills and a professional attitude when dealing with clients and colleagues. A proactive and driven approach, you take ownership of your accounts and follow through from first contact to signed contract. Fluency in French and English. Willingness to travel within France.
