Job description

Kōrero mō te tūranga | About the role

This is a 9‑month fixed‑term opportunity until January 2027 within our Strategic Finance community, supporting priority initiatives at a pivotal time for Contact and the energy sector.

This role sits within our Strategic Finance community and works across Teams and Initiatives in a connected, matrixed operating model. You’ll bring financial insight into the heart of decision‑making — not as an observer, but as an active contributor.

In this role, you will:

  • Partner with Business Unit Strategic Partners and initiative leads to support investment cases, performance discussions, and enterprise decisions
  • Help shape and uplift how financial insights are developed across Contact — bringing consistency, clarity, and decision‑readiness
  • Apply strong technical judgement to variance analysis, KPIs, performance commentary, and cost allocation approaches
  • Contribute to governance, quality, and audit‑ready insight through technical review and sign‑off
  • Work collaboratively across Finance disciplines, value streams, and initiatives to influence outcomes and build trust
  • Support strategic initiatives and senior reporting by translating financial data into meaningful, actionable insight
  • Role‑model adaptability and continuous improvement in how Finance works, learns, and delivers value

This is a role for someone comfortable operating through complexity, balancing technical depth with commercial pragmatism, and influencing without formal authority.

Ko wai koe | About you

You’ll thrive in this role if you’re someone who enjoys making sense of complexity and bringing others along with you. You’re confident in your technical foundations but equally aware that insight only matters when it helps people make better decisions.

You’re likely to bring:

  • Strong experience in financial insights, analysis, or business partnering within a for‑profit environment
  • A commercial mindset and an ability to connect technical work to strategic outcomes
  • Confidence working in matrixed or cross‑functional environments
  • The ability to build trust and credibility with senior stakeholders and diverse teams
  • Comfort giving and receiving feedback, and contributing to the growth of others

Bonus points if you also bring

  • Experience shaping or uplifting financial frameworks, standards, or methodologies
  • Exposure to governance, assurance, or board‑level reporting
  • A curiosity for improving how work gets done through better processes or smarter use of technology

If you don’t tick every box but this role speaks to how you want to work and grow, we still encourage you to apply.
