What You Will Do
- Manage client, team and project coordination, including full document coordination with structural, MEP, lighting, AV, landscape and civil consultants
- Lead coordination between project team, clients, vendors, contractors, consultants, and building / permitting officials
- Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges
- Ensure all work is carried out to the requirements of the client, with the design team working to the correct specifications and deliver a high quality and timely deliverable to the client.
- Maintain project / BIM manual and specifications
- Conduct and document site visits, process submittals, substitution requests, and RFI’s during construction
- Attend client meetings or on-site meetings
- Support project sustainability targets throughout project phases and actively engage in delivering them
- Work collaboratively with the team to optimize sustainability performance through design iterations and research
- Review and coordinate regulations and ordinances with the relevant authorities and internal teams of reference buildings
- Support the project client relationships to grow Tokyo office
Your Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture
- 10+ years of architectural project experience in a whole cycle
- 1st class licensed in Japan or a registered architect in overseas
- Knowledge of Japanese building codes, regulations, and permitting processes, including experience in authority coordination.
- Experience in construction documentation, regulatory submissions, and directing documentation consultants and partner firms.
- Experience in multidisciplinary coordination across structural, MEP, and engineering consultants
- Experience organizing design requirements, managing drawing production processes, and consolidating key design and material decisions
- Experience working on large-scale architectural projects of 30,000 square meters or more
- Experience participating in architectural projects for specialized building types, including data centers, warehouses, factories, and research facilities
- Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and SketchUp, and other software
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign)
- Ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines efficiently
- Knowledge of Building Information Modeling (BIM) and parametric design software, including Grasshopper, is a plus
- Able to communicate fluently in Japanese and English
- LEED accreditation a plus
