Edelman is seeking a Temporary Creative Director, Copy to lead the development of culturally relevant, idea-driven campaigns that earn attention and drive impact. This senior leadership role is responsible for shaping the voice of our work, elevating creative output, and guiding teams to deliver breakthrough ideas that influence culture.
Our work goes beyond traditional boundaries, blending PR, advertising, and social into earned-first ideas designed to spark conversation. The Temporary Creative Director, Copy will help define and drive that standard.
About the Role
As a hands-on creative leader, you will oversee the development of concepts and narratives across integrated campaigns. You will partner closely with Creative Directors, Art and cross-functional teams to ensure ideas are strategically grounded, culturally resonant, and executed with excellence across channels.
Responsibilities
- Lead the conceptual development of integrated, earned-first campaigns across clients and new business
- Set and uphold a high standard for storytelling, voice, and messaging across all creative output
- Guide teams from ideation through execution, ensuring clarity, consistency, and impact
- Mentor and manage copywriters and multidisciplinary creative teams
- Collaborate with art direction, strategy, account, and production to deliver cohesive campaigns
- Drive innovation in storytelling formats across social, digital, video, experiential, and emerging platforms
- Lead client presentations and serve as a senior creative voice in client engagements
- Oversee multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring delivery on time and within budget
- Contribute to agency growth through new business pitches and thought leadership
Basic Qualifications
- Minimum of 10+ years of experience in copywriting or related creative fields
- Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Communications, English, or a related discipline
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong portfolio demonstrating breakthrough ideas and integrated campaign thinking
- Proven experience leading and mentoring creative teams
- Exceptional writing, storytelling, and conceptual thinking skills
- Experience across social, digital, video, and experiential content
- Strong client leadership and presentation abilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
- Experience contributing to new business and agency growth initiatives
An employee’s pay position within the salary range will be based on several factors including, but not limited to, relevant education, qualifications, certifications, experience, skills, seniority, geographic location, performance, travel requirements, revenue-based metrics, any contractual agreements, and business or organizational needs.
