Job description

In support of organization strategies, will be responsible for the development, support and implementation of an enterprise-wide Business Continuity strategy defined by leadership. Will serve as the business resource with business units regarding the design, implementation, administration, and maintenance of all business continuity, recovery and crisis management plans. In collaboration with the IT Disaster Recovery Lead, serve as business system’s analyst for the disaster recovery software application.

Business Continuity Analyst Requirements:

  • Associate’s Degree in related field or direct and equivalent work experience
  • Minimum of three years’ work experience in the field of business continuity, disaster recovery, emergency management or other related field.

Sr. Business Continuity Analyst Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in related field or direct and equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in a business continuity role. 

Lead Business Continuity Analyst Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree or direct and applicable work experience.
  • 4+ years of experience in a business continuity role with demonstrated proficiency administrating business continuity programs, with the workforce and workplace resiliency being top of mind; and experience with risk management to identify and analyze risk followed by recommendations on how to mitigate the risk.
  • Strong business knowledge and perspective to understand complex information to develop recommendations; proven ability to collect and analyze data to identify solutions.

Required for every level:

  • Strong problem-solving skills to recognize patterns in data or events and to draw logical conclusions and make recommendations for action and to plan and implement policies and procedures.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in personal computer skills; experience using Microsoft Office software products; proficiency in keying and software program features based on required assessments.
  • User expertise and experience with software application programs or a strong technical aptitude with the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills including, but not limited to, writing reports, emails and documents for internal/external audiences, and presenting to various internal audiences
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and build relationships of trust
  • Project management and leadership skills to plan workflow, manage projects, prepare documentation and resolve conflicting demands; ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
  • Demonstrated experience with crisis situations and prioritizing under extreme time pressures.
  • Travel required 5-10%
  • Has a valid driver's license
  • Must be available 24/7 to respond to security/emergency situations. Has on-call responsibilities.

Preferred:

  • Previous IT experience, including understanding of system integration
  • Associate Business Continuity Professional (ABCP)

 

a. Plan, design, and implement Wellmark’s enterprise-wide business continuity plans. Facilitate business impact analysis and risk assessment with business stakeholders across the organization, to identify critical business functions and associated dependencies required for business sustainability. This includes identifying vulnerabilities associated with critical assets and developing options to provide continued availability of business functions.

b. Facilitate business continuity methodologies and strategies by integrating business requirements and technical solutions. Will partner with stakeholders across the business to collaborate and provide inputs on disaster recovery strategies and exercises. Consult with stakeholders to define detailed requirements and develop technical solutions in the business continuity management system.

c. Coordinate integrated testing efforts for all business continuity programs and document executive authorizations needed during a disruption.

d. Provide recommendations and assist in the development of business continuity plans, strategies, procedures, and report all aspects of business continuity efforts to leadership. Establish and maintain effective communication channels with all levels of leadership and employees.

e. Assess the business continuity implications for proposed technology or organizational changes, and coordinate any revisions to existing business continuity plans and procedures. Assist business partners in resolving business issues related to work area recovery planning and plan development.

f. Ensure all technical components of business continuity plans are successfully tested and applicable changes are implemented. Plan and coordinate simulated company exercises ever two years, involving all critical business departments. Document results of all tests and exercises and identify any recommended enhancements to the business continuity plans and procedures.

g. Serve as a key contributor for hot site planning efforts to ensure test meets all contractual and regulatory requirements. Support audit evaluations, self-assessments and notification tests to ensure compliance.

h. Provide 24/7 on call support during any emergency which may require activation of all or part of the Business Continuity Plans. Provide support during a crisis event to operational, tactical, or strategic levels to ensure that leaders throughout the organization have sufficient support and are aware of the business continuity resources that are available.

i. Evaluate emerging business recovery technology, services, and coordinate implementation of appropriate systems to maintain corporate recovery plans.

j. Provide coaching, instruction, training, and business expertise to other Business Continuity team members.

k. Other duties as assigned.
