Job description
The Bus Assembly Foreman is responsible for leading a team of skilled craftsmen in the assembly of bus materials related to the conductive integrity of electrical control and distribution equipment. Operating within the Production Department, this role plays a critical part in ensuring the timely delivery of high-quality Mission Critical Group products to the oil and gas, marine, and energy markets. This position requires a hands-on leader who can drive team performance, uphold quality and compliance standards, and ensure all assembly work is completed accurately and in accordance with engineering specifications. The Bus Assembly Foreman is expected to demonstrate strong technical knowledge, sound judgment, and effective communication skills to guide their team toward consistent, efficient, and defect-free production outcomes. Consistent and accurate representation of the Mission Critical Group brand, mission, vision, values, and organizational strategy are essential to the success of this role and the organization.
Accountabilities
- Supervise and schedule staff on projects to meet quality standards and on-time shipment requirements.
- Provide technical guidance and direct corrective actions of the Bus Assembly team by ensuring efficient installation of fabricated bus materials.
- Prioritizes workflow and allocation of manpower resources for project scheduling and delivery by coordinating efforts through active collaboration with the Production Manager, Engineering Department, and other Manufacturing team members.
- Train personnel in all areas of shop bus assembly and installation, while providing expertise to Field Service Technicians on the floor or on-site for optimal client responsiveness and feedback capabilities.
- Provide positive reinforcement, constructive feedback, coaching, and mentorship to team members and provide recommendations for promotions and terminations to the Production Manager.
- Ensure a safe workplace for all personnel and visitors to the Manufacturing floor through strict adherence to safety standards as well as OSHA and EPA requirements
Required Knowledge / Experience
- 5+ years of experience in bus assembly and installation.
- 3+ years of experience supervising a team of 5 or more in a manufacturing environment
- Intrapersonal Skills: Self-motivated and able to identify, examine, and resolve issues independently from others. Hold a strong regard for guidelines, procedures, and integrity.
- Engineering and Technology: Knowledge of the practical application of engineering science and technology. This includes applying principles, techniques, procedures, and equipment to the design and production of various goods and services.
- Production and Processing: Knowledge of raw materials, production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture and distribution of goods.
- Design: Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in the production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models.
- Mechanical: Knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance. Tools include Electrical drills, Pneumatic drills, Band saws, Basic hand tools.
- Management of Personnel Resources: Motivating, developing, and directing people as they work, identifying the best people for the job.
- Computers and Electronics: Knowledge of computer hardware and software, including applications and programming such as Microsoft Office Business Suite; knowledge of accounting software.
- Verbal & Written Communication Skills: This position requires basic skills. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the organization.
- Math Skills: This position requires intermediate skills (calculate figures/discounts, proportions, area, etc.)
Supervisory Requirements
- Directly supervises 5-7 employees.
- Performs supervisory responsibilities by managing and allocating employee resources in accordance with company policies, applicable laws, and company initiatives/goals.
- Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, training and developing employees; planning, assigning, and directing work (including scheduling); appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Education
- High School Diploma or GED required.

Work Environment and Physical Demands
- This is a FLSA non-exempt position paid on an hourly basis. Overtime may be required based on production demands, including extended shifts, weekends, or holidays.
- This role is based on the production floor. The position requires standing for extended periods, working around machinery, and adherence to all safety and compliance standards.
- Employee must be at to sit, climb or balance, hear, use hands, taste/smell, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, stand, walk, talk, and reach with hands and arms.
- Conditions in manufacturing: can be high heat or cold, high humidity, exposure to electrical shock and mechanical parts, exposure to radiation, exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals with fumes and/or airborne particles.
- Mobility: Ability to move around the manufacturing plant, including walking, standing, and climbing stairs.
- Manual Dexterity: Occasional use of hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls.
- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry items up to fifty (50) pounds. All lifting should be done following OSHA standards.
- Visual and Auditory Requirements: Must be able to see and hear well enough to navigate the plant safely and communicate effectively with team members.
