In this position, the Switchboard Operator provides processing of all inbound calls from the public at large and internal users, providing general information and caller connecting support through use of the telephone systemPosting Specifics
Pay Range: $17.33 - $22.54/hour (depending on experience)
Benefits Eligible: No
Shift Details: PRN/As Needed. Covering sick days and vacations. No set hours. Most needs will be for nights (11 p.m. - 7 a.m.) and some afternoons (3 p.m. - 11 p.m.)
Location: Communications, St. Vincent Regional Hospital (Billings, Montana)
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Switchboard Responsibilities
- Answers incoming switchboard calls in the order they're received.
- Assists caller: answers questions, gives directions, transfers call or pages.
- Answers the hospital emergency line, monitors Nurse Call and dispatches all emergencies.
- Monitors and dispatches hospital facilities alarms.
- Performs Resource Specialist duties (after-hours answering and contacting on-call providers,
- after-hours triage, after-hours medical records requests, after-hours appointment scheduling).
Minimum Requirements
1. High School diploma or equivalent.
2. Ability to type 40 wpm
3. Ability to communicate effectively and diplomatically within a multi-functional team
4. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
5. Ability to successfully function in a fast paced, service oriented environment with minimal face-to-face interaction.
6. Experience in understanding and usage of computers as well as the ability to learn applications relevant to the position
