A Brief Overview
The Director of Supply Chain Operational Excellence is a senior leadership role driving enterprise‑wide efficiency, innovation, and transformation across a Gartner top‑2 ranked healthcare supply chain. With system‑wide influence and a seat at the leadership table, this role partners closely with the Chief Supply Chain Officer and Vice President of Strategic Initiatives to turn strategy into measurable results. The ideal candidate combines healthcare supply chain expertise with strong program management skills and a passion for developing people, leading change, and delivering measurable, enterprise‑wide impact.

What you will do

  • Maintain continuous alignment with defined organizational and departmental strategic business objectives in conjunction with leadership.
  • Direct and ensure the efficient operation of day-to-day activities of the team and ensure competency of all staff.
  • Supports and partners on Change Management, Training and Communications activities as needed for effective performance improvement and project management.
  • Act in an advisory capacity to all Supply Chain divisions, programs, staff and leaders.
  • Provide expertise, guidance and training on Performance Improvement and Project Management best practices.
  • Apply LEAN/Six Sigma principles and methods to identify waste reduction and performance optimization opportunities across Supply Chain operations.
  • Implement, oversee and continuously improve Supply Chain systems, processes and standard work to drive the efficient management of operations across Logistics, Sourcing, Procurement, Business Office, Resiliency, Sustainability, Data Management and other functions.
  • Build, develop and grow business relationships with Supply Chain’s key stakeholders and partners including but not limited to the Interventional Platform, A/P, Pharmacy, and IT.
  • Lead cross-departmental initiatives, establishing strong governance, communication, and accountability to deliver progress measurable through mutually agreed KPIs.
  • Align and collaborate with the enterprise Performance Improvement team and Stanford Operating System (SOS).
  • Lead the implementation of programs and/or projects as assigned by the Administrative Director.


Education Qualifications

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree in a work-related discipline/field from an accredited college or university.
  • Relevant experience in lieu of degree may be considered. Relevant experience in lieu of degree is in addition to the experience requirements for this position.


Experience Qualifications

  • Seven (7) years of progressively responsible and directly related work experience.


Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  • Must have strong leadership and interpersonal skills and be effective at people management including the ability to delegate assignments and share decision-making with team members and direct reports as appropriate.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to present, and to write in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Ability to understand complex verbal or written instructions and translate to action to deliver quantitative and qualitative results.
  • Must be well organized and systematic, and able to design, implement and maintain standard work processes.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies to lead complex project teams and large scope projects, including managing resources (people, costs, time).
  • Familiar with and able to apply Lean Six Sigma concepts and techniques including value stream mapping, kaizen, Five Whys, VoC, RCA etc. for structured process improvement.
  • Demonstrated expertise in leading change management initiatives within Agile delivery environments.
  • Ability to multi-task and handle multiple priorities while managing aggressive deadlines. Knowledge of Supply Chain functions, practices, and operational challenges.
  • Understanding of healthcare and clinical concepts.


Licenses and Certifications

  • Lean Six Sigma Certification preferred .
  • PMP - Project Mgmt Professional preferred .
  • CMRP (Certified Materials & Resource Professionals) preferred.

Base Pay Scale: Generally starting at $79.21 - $104.97 per hour

The salary of the finalist selected for this role will be set based on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, internal equity, experience, education, specialty and training. This pay scale is not a promise of a particular wage.
