Job description

In this role, you will be responsible for: 

  • Providing direct partnership and IT system ownership in support of stakeholders in R&D Discovery and Corporate Business and Strategy Office (CBSO). 

  • Provides strategic technology consultation, guidance and leadership (where appropriate) for business/domain initiatives.  

  • Develop and lead plans necessary to deliver the technological capabilities needed to enable business objectives.  

  • Analyzes business processes; elicits, analyzes, and documents business requirements; identifies, creates proposals, and presents alternative solutions, assesses feasibility and makes recommendations typically seeking to exploit and leverage new or existing IT technology components.; change management; and leads, coordinates/performs testing, verification, and validation of requirements. 

Tools and skills you will use in this role:  

  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures. 

  • Work with business teams to understand specific business processes, business drivers, and business strategies across multiple functions, identifies, prioritizes and communicates resulting needs and opportunities for business process improvement that can be enabled via technology 

  • Use appropriate tools to collect, correlate and analyze data; record and maintain technical system and SDLC documentation and training materials. Conduct testing and develop preliminary findings. Adhere to Abbvie system standards and procedures. 

  • Manage projects according to project scope and milestones.  Determine approach and solution to problem when issue is within scope.  Guide the efforts of technical teams  

  • Proactively investigate and understand capabilities of existing systems and technologies already in use across the business area and similar and interconnected business areas in AbbVie; Investigates emerging internal and external technologies and actively connects these capabilities to proactively address business needs 

  • Anticipate risks project/program risks, defines mitigation plans and works with teams to implement. Working with business partners and BTO management, responsible for resolving changes to scope, issues and risks that will affect multiple and/or large-scale projects/programs. 

  • Anticipate and respond to current and emerging business needs and evaluate alternative IT solutions using standard information systems methodologies and best practices.  

  • Proactively seeks strategic business opportunities for the application of new or existing IT capabilities (across multiple business areas) with high-level business unit executives providing key opinion-leading clients with comprehensive strategic analyses and insights to help them discover strategic uses of IT products and services. Experience managing a project/program. 

  • Build collaborative relationships and effectively interact with business and/or technology teams. Acts as a liaison and business process expert to assure successful implementation. Serves as a source of information to the business teams. Subject matter expert in their technology and/or functional domain. 

  • Consistently demonstrates AbbVie's Ways of Working and Leadership Attributes. Ability to communicate problems in terms that are understandable to BTS Leadership and end users at all 

Required 

  • Bachelor’s degree plus 6 years’ technical experience; Master’s degree plus 5 years’ experience; PhD plus 0 years’ experience.   

  • IT system ownership and system implementation experience 

  • Experience with external inspection teams to facilitate audits, collaborate to provide documentation, and address findings related to business applications. 

Preferred

  • Experience in project management tools, such as Jira 

  • Experience with emerging AI tools and practices 

  • Experience in Data Analytics 

  • Experience in Vendor Relationship management 

  • Scientific or healthcare related background 

  • Experience in Highly Restricted/Secret Data management 

  • Familiar with M&A processes

  • The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of thisposting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location,and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range.
