The Opportunity

This is a global role based in Bogotá, Colombia.

As an IT Quality Manager, you will be responsible for managing and overseeing the IT Validation Quality Management System, processes, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role plays a key part in driving a strong culture of Quality and Compliance across Abbott IT, ensuring inspection readiness and providing visibility into quality performance metrics and action plans across enterprise platforms, including SAP-based systems supporting GxP and business-critical processes.

You will collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders to define and execute quality and compliance strategies aligned with business objectives, while supporting global quality initiatives within a regulated and GxP environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Manage and oversee the IT Validation Quality Management System, including processes, controls, and continuous improvement efforts.

  • Oversee quality, validation, and compliance activities for SAP systems (e.g., ECC, S/4HANA, SAP MDG) in regulated environments.

  • Ensure SAP changes follow validated SDLC, change control, and release management processes.

  • Partner with SAP delivery, Basis, and functional teams to ensure quality-by-design across SAP implementations and upgrades.

  • Lead Software Quality Assurance (SQA) Operations and support GxP inspection readiness activities.

  • Drive and promote a sustained culture of quality and compliance across the IT organization.

  • Provide management visibility through quality system metrics, performance monitoring, and reporting.

  • Manage daily operations, capacity, and demand for IT Quality and Compliance functions.

  • Lead and manage SQA operational staff, including work assignment, performance monitoring, and service provider oversight.

  • Partner with divisional and corporate stakeholders to align and standardize quality and compliance best practices.

  • Assess quality and compliance processes and deliver training and education to IT and business teams as needed.

  • Lead and contribute to IT quality strategy, vision, and improvement initiatives in collaboration with internal and external partners.

  • Support audit and inspection activities and ensure ongoing audit readiness.

  • Coach and guide team members and contribute to the development of quality capabilities within the organization.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, or equivalent experience.

  • Minimum of 8 years of experience in IT Quality, IT Compliance, or a related Quality function.

  • Prior experience with:

  • CSV / CSA management

  • Quality System management

  • Identification and execution of process improvement initiatives

  • Experience managing or leading operational teams in an IT project environment.

  • Strong knowledge of software development lifecycle (including GAMP 5, Waterfall & Agile), IT Change Management, and IT controls.

  • Experience working in regulated environments with audit and inspection requirements.

  • Strong communication skills and ability to engage effectively with senior management and cross-functional stakeholders.

  • Experience managing service providers and external partners.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications such as:

  • ISTQB Certified Tester – Foundation Level

  • ASQ Certified Software Quality Engineer (CSQE) or equivalent demonstrated mastery of software quality engineering principles.

  • ISO 9001 or ISO 13485

  • Experience with GxP environments and inspection readiness activities.

  • Prior experience in Software Quality Assurance (SQA) roles.

  • Demonstrated ability to drive continuous improvement and foster a quality-driven mindset across teams.

  • Experience supporting SAP platforms (ECC, S/4HANA, or SAP GxP modules) within GxP environments.
