BASIC FUNCTION

This role is responsible for coordinating end-to-end engineering activities for product development and custom generator set projects, providing technical and design leadership for mechanical and electrical systems development, and ensuring all project deliverables meet quality, cost, and timeline requirements. The role will bridge cross-functional, cross-regional, and internal/external stakeholder collaboration, identify and mitigate project risks, drive continuous improvement of engineering processes and technical solutions.

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES                                       

• Coordinate and guide product/project design work, anticipate milestone timelines, propose alternatives for critical paths, and ensure adherence to all engineering milestones and deliverables.

• Identify all types of project risks, lead the formulation and implementation of corrective action plans, and steer stakeholders to optimize the balance of project quality, cost and schedule for optimized deliverables.

• Align technical tasks and deliverables with cross-functional teams, unify internal and external stakeholders around project goals, and challenge deliverable quality to ensure project standards.

• Track and analyze project targets, use data to support decision-making, prioritize work based on business objectives, and share rigorous organizational working methods with internal and external partners.

• Provide technical support in quoting process for Technical Solutions team regarding highly complex questions.

• Support to develop moderately complex parametric components, assemblies, drawings, layouts, and specifications with sound understanding of the design intent and fundamental understanding of manufacturing processes when required. 

• Support the marketing and sales teams’ efforts to win projects and customers, which will occasionally require preparing and presenting technical presentations and white papers.

• Initiate and drive continuous improvement initiatives to streamline internal business processes and upgrade support systems; identify inefficiencies in custom order processes and implement optimization measures.

• Conduct project-related research, apply proven technologies to custom design work, and lead technical improvement actions for projects and engineering tools.

• Any other assignments arranged by department supervisor/manager.

Supervisory Relationships:

Reports to Senior Manager – Product engineering, PS China

 

Organization Relationships:

Frequent contacts

• Daily contact with project engineers, designers, engineering specials sales engineers, purchasing, scheduling, Standards/Regs, and manufacturing.

• Frequent contact with Engineering Simulation, Data Services and the production floor.

• Occasional contact with Rehlko EMEA’s, Southeast Asia and North America Engineering team

 

 

External Business Relationships:

Frequent contacts

• Frequent contact with component manufacturers to select parts and materials, work out engineering details, and verify parameters.

• Regular contact with distribution, sales team and end users

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

1. Project Management

·       Advanced expertise in project planning, with end-to-end tracking of technical design, project milestones.

·       Proficient use of reporting tools (Excel, Smartsheet, etc.), ability to analyze complex technical data and communicate actionable recommendations and lead project technical improvement initiatives.

·       Demonstrated project management skills and a proven track record of effective cross-functional team collaboration.

·       PMP certification is preferred

2. Technical Expertise

·       Good knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering.

·       Ability to apply technical expertise to complex engineering projects, optimized technical solutions in line with internal procedures.

• Regular contact with distribution, sales team and end users

3. Education

·       CET4 English level (proficient written and fluent spoken).

·       Bachelor’s degree in mechanical and electrical integration or science and engineering.

·       Preferred: Completed educational courses related to power system design.
