Avio Aero as a part of a GE Aviation Business is the leading company in the aeronautic business sector for the design, manufacturing and maintenance of components and systems for civil and military aero engines. We offer an opportunity of development in Avio Polska NPI (New Product Introduction) projects in Bielsko-Biała plant!Our opportunity is an engineering position focused on CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) activities for new products. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and launching CMM programs for all Avio Polska NPI (New Product Introduction) projects, including rotor and stator parts of low-pressure turbines (LPT).
Key duties include creating, validating and optimizing CMM measurement programs for new components, ensuring that measurement processes and documentation are ready for serial production. The role has a direct impact on first-time-right quality, process capability and overall product performance.
As a member of the NPI team, the candidate will closely collaborate with design, manufacturing and quality engineers, with strong emphasis on early involvement in new projects, knowledge sharing and continuous improvement of measurement standards.
Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
- Define and control the production measurement process, including CMM programming and equipment setup for rotor and stator parts, with particular focus on NPI (New Product Introduction) programs.
- Develop, maintain and optimize CMM programs to ensure robust, repeatable and accurate measurement results.
- Validate design specifications and ensure proper shop floor implementation of new products, tools and equipment, in cooperation with production and quality teams.
- Apply best practices in manufacturing and metrology, and understand how the CMM area integrates with upstream and downstream processes in the value stream.
- Use technical experience, GD&T knowledge and analytical thinking to solve more complex manufacturing and measurement issues, sometimes proposing solutions outside of standard parameters.
- Make decisions based on data and input from multiple internal stakeholders, and when needed, limited external sources (e.g. suppliers, service providers).
- Act as a technical resource for less experienced colleagues, supporting them in CMM and measurement-related topics.
- Lead or support small improvement projects with limited risk and resources, helping to increase productivity and improve product quality.
- Clearly explain technical information and contribute to building consensus within the team on process and measurement topics.
Required Qualifications
- Higher Education degree in Manufacturing Engineering or a related technical field.
- Proven hands-on experience in operating and programming Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) in a production or quality assurance environment.
- Very good knowledge of CMM programming, with strong focus on Calypso software and PCM programming; experience with other CMM software will be an additional advantage.
- Very good knowledge of GD&T.
- Understanding of validation processes, including the use of dedicated tools and software.
- Experience in preparing technical documentation, with good knowledge of technical drawings and design rules.
- Knowledge of measurement system analysis (MSA), including methods for evaluating measurement system capability and repeatability/reproducibility (R&R).
- Strong English skills, enabling effective internal and external communication and proper use of technical terminology
Desired Characteristics
- Experience with New Product Introduction (NPI), including industrialization of new parts, validation of measurement processes and implementation of new products into serial production.
- Basic knowledge of CAD software, especially NX, with the ability to design and draft dedicated tooling based on product documentation.
- Good knowledge of LEAN tools and Six Sigma methodologies as structured approaches to problem solving.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to analyze and resolve problems.
- Ability to document, plan and execute programs and projects.
- Established project management skills.
