Essential Job Functions:

The incumbent must be able to perform all of the following duties and responsibilities  with or without a reasonable accommodation.

  • Properly greet PETCO visitors and handle the reception area traffic in a manner that ensures a professional environment is maintained. 
  • Efficiently operate the PETCO switchboards, answer phone calls, take detailed messages and direct calls to the appropriate party. 
  • Prepare and produce paper visitor badges; ensure all visitors have proper identification (PETCO lanyard) prior to entry. 
  • Activate, deactivate and print access control badges with and without pictures. 
  • Maintain daily sign-in logs, both hard copy and electronically. 
  • Ensure lobby area is maintained in neat and orderly condition throughout the day. 
  • Remain cognizant of any suspicious activity occurring at or near front door; inform security or manager of same in a prompt, professional manner.

Supervisory Responsibilities:  None  

Work Environment: Most tasks are performed while seated indoors at a personal computer. 

Education (Required): high school diploma, GED or equivalent Work

Experience (Required):

  • Requires excellent verbal communication skills and phone etiquette. 
  • Requires functional knowledge of several MS Office applications, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. 
  • Must be customer service driven and be able to effectively multi-task as needed. 
  • Must be able to operate effectively with little or no immediate supervision.

Work Experience (Preferred):

  • One to three years previous experience in comparable administrative role preferred.
