The Opportunity Company, Department : Nova Scotia Power, Power Production Location : Dartmouth, NS - Tuft's Cove Generating Station Type of Employment : Regular, Full Time – On-site Closing Date : May 10, 2026 We are currently looking for a Shift Supervisor to join our team in a permanent position. Reporting to the Operations Superintendent, you will drive operational excellence by leading the safe and reliable operation of our thermal generating station through strategic leadership, environmental stewardship, and proactive safety culture development. Key elements of this role include: As a Shift Supervisor you will be responsible for the following : Based on assigned shift, lead the safe and efficient operation of a thermal generating station including boiler, turbine generator and all associated auxiliary equipment. Create a high-performance learning culture that empowers team members to continuously enhance their technical expertise and professional growth, directly driving plant operational excellence. Provide supervision and development of operating staff, co-ordinate with other shifts and departments and maintain compliance with environmental regulations. Coach, mentor, and develop operating staff while fostering a strong safety and performance culture. Champion a robust safety culture by proactively identifying risks, implementing preventive measures, and inspiring a team-wide commitment to workplace safety. Actively engage in continuous professional development programs, demonstrating commitment to personal growth and leadership excellence in power generation operations. Be able to work effectively as a member of the production team and demonstrate participation in and support for the Competency Based Training program. You will be responsible for personal safety and that of your co-workers and those under your direction by observing all Occupational Health and Safety Rules and Regulations. As well, you will be responsible for solid environmental performance of the plant and support all ISO 14001 processes and initiatives. It is the responsibility of the Shift Supervisor to ensure that NSPI is in compliance with all NERC/NPCC reliability standards related to (area applicable to NERC requirements). This position is considered a safety sensitive position. As such, the successful candidate must comply with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Policy which requires a confidential pre-employment alcohol and drug test in accordance with the Emera Alcohol and Drug Procedure. These skills will make you successful: You recognize yourself in most of the following competencies, and where possible possess the skills and experience listed below: Qualifications: You must have valid 1st or 2nd Class Power Engineer certification. Knowledge of other trades or certification in other trades will be considered an asset. Demonstrate strong leadership capabilities, with exceptional communication, technological proficiency, and the ability to build collaborative, high-performing teams. You must be self-motivated and adaptable to change. You must be familiar with all aspects of a high-pressure thermal generating station. Experience: 8 + years ' experience in a thermal power plant experience, with a readiness to step into a people leadership role.
