Reporting to the Senior Director, Bridges & Tunnels, the Project Director / Team Lead – Atlantic Region plays a key strategic role in expanding and strengthening AECOM’s presence across Atlantic Canada (Nova Scotia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island, and Newfoundland & Labrador). As the regional lead for bridges and transportation structures, this role combines market development, project delivery, and team leadership to drive sustainable growth, strengthen client relationships, and deliver high-quality infrastructure projects.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and execute AECOM’s strategic growth plan for bridges and transportation structures across Atlantic Canada (NS, NB, PEI, NL)
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize new business opportunities with provincial agencies, municipalities, transportation authorities, and private clients
- Develop and maintain strong, long-term client relationships, positioning AECOM as a trusted infrastructure partner
- Act as the primary strategic liaison for key regional accounts and major stakeholders
- Lead capture strategies, proposals, and competitive pursuits for major and complex infrastructure projects (Design-Build, P3, multidisciplinary)
- Represent AECOM in client meetings, industry forums, and technical committees to strengthen market presence
- Serve as Project Director on large-scale bridge and structural engineering assignments
- Oversee complete project lifecycle delivery, including scope definition, schedule, budget, quality, risk, and contract management
- Ensure technical excellence and compliance across all deliverables, including design, reports, specifications, and cost estimates
- Coordinate and integrate multidisciplinary teams across Atlantic Canada, national and international AECOM offices
- Implement strong project governance practices aligned with industry standards (e.g., PMBOK, ISO 9001)
- Monitor project and regional performance using financial controls, KPIs, and operational reporting tools
- Support operational development and resource planning to optimize team utilization and efficiency
- Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing regional team, fostering technical and leadership growth
- Promote innovation, knowledge sharing, and adoption of advanced engineering practices (e.g., BIM, digital delivery, sustainability, resilience)
Minimum Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (Structural); P.Eng. (or eligibility) in Canada.
- 8+ years of experience in bridge and structural engineering.
- Demonstrated leadership and business development experience.
- Knowledge of, or strong interest in, the Atlantic Canada market.
Preferred Qualifications
- 15+ years of experience in bridge and structural engineering.
- Demonstrated experience in project and team leadership.
- Strong business development and client management track record.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and strategic thinking skills.
- Bilingual French/English an asset.
