Nielsen is seeking bright, motivated, and highly quantitative rising seniors for a Summer Finance Internship across various critical finance functions. This evergreen position offers a unique opportunity to gain hands-on experience and contribute meaningfully to our global business operations during a 10-12 week program. Interns will be placed in one of the following teams based on business needs and candidate qualifications and interests: Financial Planning & Analysis (FP&A), Corporate Audit Staff (CAS), Controllership, Treasury, Deal Desk/Pricing, or Tax.
Key Responsibilities:
The Summer Finance Intern will be placed into a specific team (FP&A, CAS, Controllership, Treasury, Deal Desk/Pricing, or Tax) but will contribute to Nielsen's financial operations through the following core functions:
Financial Analysis & Reporting: Support the preparation and analysis of financial data, including variance analysis against budgets, forecasts, and prior results, providing insights into business performance drivers. Assist with month-end and quarter-end processes, preparing journal entries, account reconciliations, or supporting the preparation of internal and external financial reports in compliance with GAAP/IFRS.
Risk & Control Documentation: Participate in efforts to maintain a strong control environment, which may include assisting the Corporate Audit Staff (CAS) with internal control testing (e.g., SOX) and reviews focused on process improvement . Support initiatives to identify and mitigate financial and operational risks across various functions.
Planning & Forecasting Support: Contribute to the strategic finance cycle by assisting in the development of financial models, budgets, and forecasts utilized by FP&A and business leaders for future decision-making.
Compliance & Specialized Research: Conduct research on regulatory and policy matters, which could involve analyzing tax laws and regulations (Tax) to support compliance and planning efforts, or researching accounting standards (Controllership) or corporate finance policy (Treasury). Assist with preparing supporting documentation for external and internal audits, tax filings, or banking compliance requirements.
Pricing analysis & Documentation: Assist in research regarding outside competitors and their pricing, historical pricing analysis of Nielsen products, selling price analysis of historic discounting trends (Deal Desk/Pricing)
Process Improvement & Project Management: Collaborate on projects aimed at improving the efficiency, accuracy, and effectiveness of financial systems, processes, and reporting across all finance departments. Prepare professional presentations and summaries to communicate analytical findings and recommendations to the finance team.
Required:
Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's degree program and classified as a rising senior (graduating between December of the internship year and June of the following year).
Pursuing a major in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related quantitative field.
Demonstrated analytical and quantitative skills with a strong attention to detail and ability to work with large datasets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present complex financial information clearly.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs)
Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a diverse team in a fast-paced, corporate environment.
Must be legally authorized to work in the country of the internship location.
Preferred:
Prior internship experience in a finance, audit, or business setting.
Familiarity with financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) or data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI)
Experience with AI/ML tools or data analytics platforms.
