Commercial Plans Examiner - Lucas County Building Regulations

Under the guidance of the Chief Building Official (C.B.O.) and in alignment with the department’s approved organizational structure, this role is responsible for reviewing construction documents to ensure compliance with the Ohio Building Code, the Residential Code of Ohio, and Lucas County’s Flood Damage Prevention Code. Key duties include verifying the accuracy of submitted plans and specifications, maintaining and retrieving plan review records, generating correction notices and approval recommendations, and supporting adjudication processes. The role also provides assistance to the public during the plan review process, supports inspectors by supplying approved documents and code clarifications, and aids the C.B.O. with field investigations as needed.
