Profile Description
We’re seeking someone to join our Enterprise Technology team as a Mainframe Central Software Engineer, in Enterprise Z (EZ). The role involves overseeing the installation of IBM and Independent Software Vendor (ISV) software on the firm's z-platform computing infrastructure. Additionally, the position requires the installation of client components to support mainframe software, including software for Windows and Linux environments.
In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities.
This is Director position that manages and optimizes technical infrastructure and ensures the seamless operation of IT systems to support business needs effectively.

What you’ll do in the role:
- Deliver and maintain z/OS and ISV software installations and upgrades using SMP/E, aligned to enterprise standards.
- Leverage z/OSMF Software Management and REST APIs to modernise and streamline software lifecycle management.
- Drive automation and DevOps practices on the mainframe using Git, USS/OMVS, Ansible, Python, and REXX.
- Design and execute robust testing strategies to ensure software quality, stability, and performance.
- Implement software customisation and user mods, including basic Assembler support, with a focus on maintainability.
- Act as a technical problem-solver and collaborator, providing clear documentation and effective communication across teams.
What you’ll bring to the role:
- At least 4+ years' relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role.
- Strong SMP/E skills.
- zOSMF and rest-api experience. (software management component)
- GIT and USS/OMVS
- Experience with z/OS and ISV software installations
- Excellent Testing skills (design tests to validate software functionality, robustness, performance)
- Ansibles, python and Rexx scripting
- Basic Assembler skills for usermods maintenance
- Basic knowledge and experience with IBM software and mainframe ISV software customization.
- Self-motivated individual and a team player
- Outstanding researcher/investigator with outside the box line of thought
- Good verbal and written English communications skills
