About the Role
We’re seeking a Senior Youth Case Manager to take a lead role in delivering trauma-informed, high-impact case management to young people navigating some of life’s toughest challenges. You won’t just manage cases – you'll coordinate services, guide junior staff, and help shape a system that sees and responds to the whole person.
In this dynamic senior position, you'll work across crisis accommodation and outreach settings, supporting up to 10 young people with complex needs, including housing instability, mental health, and AOD. You’ll lead intake and referral coordination, ensure risk and safety planning is rigorous and responsive, and provide leadership support to casual staff through supervision and reflective practice.
Reporting to the Youth Services Manager of Northeast Victoria, this is a permanent full-time position, based in Shepparton, VIC.
How You Will Make an Impact
Provide trauma‑informed case management across crisis accommodation and outreach, supporting housing stability, wellbeing and life skills through targeted case planning and review.
Undertake intake, assessment, risk and safety planning, ensuring timely triage, appropriate program placement, and effective responses aligned with duty of care and organisational policy.
Deliver crisis response, advocacy and referrals, building strong, youth‑centred relationships and de‑escalating incidents to maintain client and staff safety.
Fulfil operational and leadership duties, including supporting the youth service duty desk, assisting staff supervision, and providing on‑call support for after‑hours incidents and critical responses.
Maintain compliance, documentation and service quality, contributing to service integration and continuous improvement initiatives.
You Will Have
A tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare, Community Development, Community Services, or a related field
Minimum three years’ experience in a social services environment, preferably within the youth sector
Demonstrated experience in case management, with a working knowledge of risk, screening processes, and supervision
Confidence conducting risk assessments, navigating complex service systems, and mentoring or supporting others
Resilience and adaptability, with the ability to work collaboratively and lead with compassion and clarity
A strong commitment to cultural safety, inclusion, and working in partnership with young people
A current and valid Victorian Working with Children Check
A current Victorian driver’s licence
Availability for on call responsibilities and requirements
Conditions
Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 6.
