Better and fairer care. Always.
We are St Vincent’s Health Australia, Australia’s largest not-for-profit provider of health and aged care services.

Founded by The Sisters of Charity in 1857, our +30,000 healthcare superheroes operate public and private hospitals, residential aged care, community and virtual care, and outreach programs.

About the Role
This role provides senior clinical and professional leadership to clinicians within 24/7 supporting thousands of people across NSW through services such as Alcohol and Drug Information Service (ADIS) and more! Rather than holding a traditional caseload, this role is primarily delivered during standard business hours, with some flexibility required to support workforce training, supervision, and service operations as needed.

What you do:

  • Provide senior clinical leadership through mentoring, advanced clinical expertise, and delivery of high-quality training to the multidisciplinary Contact Centre workforce and relevant internal and external stakeholder.

  • Chair the Contact Centre’s Clinical Review Meeting, facilitate peer-based client review processes, and contribute to clinical governance activities within the Alcohol and Drug Service, including collaboration with partner services to support best-practice care pathways.

  • Ensure high-quality clinical documentation that meets organisational standards, supports continuity of care for repeat and complex callers, and informs shared care, referral pathways, and sector-wide practice development.

  • Lead and contribute to quality improvement, auditing, research, and service development activities, including planning, implementing, evaluating, and reporting on clinical initiatives in partnership with internal teams and external service providers.

  • Identify and address opportunities to enhance clinical practice, strengthen workforce capability, and support training needs; lead quality monitoring activities (including for regular and complex callers); and provide orientation and training to new and existing staff across the service and in collaboration with sector stakeholders.

  • Maintain advanced professional practice through ongoing development, clinical supervision, and flexible contributions to broader Alcohol and Drug Service and cross-sector initiatives.

About You

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Psychology or Social Work, with current AHPRA registration or eligibility for AASW membership, as appropriate.

  • Demonstrated relevant clinical alcohol and drug experience including assessment, brief intervention and counselling clients with substance use and co-existing mental health issues.

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of best practice methods/frameworks for alcohol and other drugs and their application in brief interventions in the context of telephone based and online support services.

  • Demonstrated capacity to provide clinical consultancy and support to multidisciplinary staff including nursing, social work and counselling professional backgrounds.

  • Demonstrated high level written and verbal communication skills including ability to prioritise effectively and manage multiple tasks.

  • High level computer skills, including using Microsoft Office and capacity to navigate databases, electronic client record and telephony systems.
