Summary

Assists anesthesia personnel as needed to provide efficient and safe patient care.
Job Duties
- Maintains anesthesia equipment to optimal condition and functioning to facilitate organized, safe, and efficient care and follows up with anesthesia provider and biomed as necessary. Coordinates the removal of unworking equipment and notifies biomed or appropriate vendor for repair.
- Prepares equipment and supplies on a daily basis to ensure readiness for use and does so with case and age-related specifications. Prepares and assembles necessary equipment for intravenous and invasive lines based on OR schedule and as requested.
- Assists anesthesia clinicians in preparation of environment and patients for all surgical, therapeutic, and diagnostic procedures and during all phases of anesthesia care when requested. Provides designated supply management and clerical functions to support operations in the department with proficiency with all applicable software/programs. Is proficient in disinfecting protocols especially with specific equipment such as fiberoptic scopes, TEE scopes, glidescopes, etc. where applicable.
- Carries a means of communication while working to ensure reachability throughout the work day and for urgent needs at all times (cell phone, walkie talkie, etc.). Handles and delivers lab specimens and blood products as assigned and appropriate. Supports and contributes to institution/department initiatives such as cost-saving and efficiency measures as well as Quality Improvement.
- Cleans and maintains supplies and equipment in a neat and organized manner in anesthesia workrooms. Assists with patient transport when and where appropriate. Travels between facilities as assigned for the performance of duties if necessary. Mentors and helps onboard new anesthesia technicians when assigned.
- Point of Care Testing – performs daily quality controls, maintains proficiency, and runs specimens on the various POC devices for the anesthesia department where applicable (glucometer, hemacue, iSTAT, Signature Elite (ACT), GEM, TEG, and other related devices). Sets up and/or runs various patient care equipment as needed (Fiber optic scope, Belmont, rapid infuser, cell saver, jet ventilators, and other related equipment.)
- Able to troubleshoot anesthesia equipment and monitors. Responds to requests for assistance from anesthesia providers in a timely manner. Takes call when applicable. Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- High School Diploma/GED Diploma or equivalent completion and certification through an accredited program American society of anesthesia technicians and technologists preferred.
- Proficiency in applicable computer programs for supply chain functions
Physical Demands
Lift and carry 40-50 lbs. Examples: Push/pull patients on bed, stretcher (requires 29 lbs. push force), lateral transfers up to 50 lbs. of the patient's weight. Frequent to continuous standing/walking. Patient transporters can walk 8-10 miles per shift. *Patient care providers may be required to perform activities specific to their role including kneeling, bending, squatting and performing CPR.

Salary Range
$18.66 to $26.60 HourlyThe actual hiring rate will be determined based on candidate experience, skills and qualifications. This position is not eligible for an annual incentive.
