The Facilities Engineering Manager will manage facilities engineering personnel and contractors involved in facility design and construction, equipment and machinery installation, maintenance, environmental issues, utility services, security services, and grounds and services.
The Facilities Engineering Manager is responsible for providing an EHS strategy that meets the corporate guidelines and exceeds the OSHA standards; for ensuring necessary maintenance is provided to keep the facility, machine tools, and equipment in operating condition; and for maintaining a crib system that supports machine availability targets and is cost effective. Due to the critical urgency of equipment uptime and the facilities combination of fabrication, machining, assembly, and distribution operations, considerable emphasis is placed on preventive maintenance and expeditious emergency repairs. Keeps facility management informed of special problems and status of maintenance projects and recommends changes to improve maintenance procedures.
What you will do:
- Directing staffing, development and performance management programs for all facilities & maintenance management staff; managing, motivating and developing management team.
- Maintaining communications and relationships with customers, local community, service providers, utilities, and strategic partners
- Developing plans and strategies for infrastructure and processes needed to run a manufacturing facility in accordance with regulatory procedures and environmental standards.
- Planning the implementation and use of programs and databases for effectively managing properties, physical assets and equipment.
- Oversees facility expansion & renovation projects – working with suppliers and contractors to meet critical paths for timing, cost and functionality
- Develops and executes comprehensive maintenance strategies for all physical assets
- Owns key scorecard KPIs such as MTTR, MTBF, PM/CM completion, spare part management and more – driving continuous improvement toward world class levels
Skills you must have:
Decision Making and Critical Thinking: Extensive knowledge of the decision-making process and associated tools and techniques; ability to accurately analyze situations and reach productive decisions based on informed judgment.
Planning and Organizing: Extensive knowledge of the process of planning and arranging tasks and resources; ability to plan and organize both time and resources to get things completed while structuring and maintaining work in a systematic and highly methodical way.
Plant Facilities Management: Extensive knowledge of processes, methodologies and techniques used to manage plant facilities; ability to handle the full spectrum of activities for managing and maintaining physical facilities and infrastructure.
Process Management: Extensive knowledge of business process improvement tools and techniques; ability to understand, monitor, update, control, or enhance existing business or work processes.
Relationship Management: Working knowledge of relationship management techniques; ability to establish and maintain healthy working relationships with clients, vendors, and peers.
Service Excellence: Working knowledge of customer service concepts and techniques; ability to meet or exceed customer needs and expectations and provide excellent service in a direct or indirect manner.
Supplier Management - MFG: Working knowledge of processes and methods to effectively manage business relationships and transactions with suppliers of raw materials or product components; ability to apply related knowledge, experience and skills into real practice.
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field.
Top Candidates will also have:
- Extensive experience in facilities management or maintenance
- Experiences with process machinery maintenance; specifically with predictive and proactive maintenance program establishment.
- Experience in budget management, project development/ management
- Experience in building systems (HVAC, water, air, etc.) and infrastructure
- Experience working with outside suppliers and government agencies
- Leadership experience as a frontline leader OR leader of leaders

Summary Pay Range:
$159,120.00 - $238,680.00Compensation and benefits offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, job level, market location, job-related knowledge, skills, individual performance and experience. Please note that salary is only one component of total compensation at Caterpillar.
