Job description
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented experienced Laboratory Technician to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing a range of analytical tests on various samples in our quality control lab, contributing to the high quality and accuracy of our products. This position requires a strong focus on accuracy, safety, and adherence to established protocols.
Key Requirements:
- Be proficient in using these instruments - HPLC/GC/LCMS/IC including data processing and reporting.
- Should be able to troubleshoot the instruments as well.
- Should be able to handle flammable solvents, acids and other hazardous chemicals including Cyanide.
- Experience in Fatty Acid Profile Testing.
- Experience in analysis of Vitamins.
- Experience with soil contaminants testing.
- Experience in handling quarantine samples.
- Instrument Calibration experience.
Key Responsibilities
As a Chemistry Laboratory Technician, your key responsibilities will include:
- Collecting information and samples for analysis.
- Conducting laboratory experiments, tests and analyses on organic and inorganic chemicals.
- Preparing and analysing samples using standard laboratory equipment and techniques.
- Performing routine physical and chemical testing on raw materials and finished products.
- Performing routine mathematical calculations and computations of measurements.
- Presenting results in graphic and written form by preparing maps, charts, sketches, diagrams and reports, and carrying out other technical functions.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed records of all tests and results.
- Checking, calibrating, and maintaining test equipment and laboratory instruments.
- Controlling the quality and quantity of laboratory supplies by testing samples and monitoring usage.
- Ensuring the laboratory environment is clean, safe, and compliant with all health and safety regulations.
- Assisting in the development and validation of new testing methods.
- Communicating test results to the wider team and reporting any non-conformance issues promptly.
Minimum Requirements
- A tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Food Science/Technology, or equivalent.
- At least two years' previous experience in a similar role in a food testing or commercial lab.
- Demonstrated experience with HPLC/GC/LCMS/IC including instrument troubleshooting and data processing.
- Shimadzu and Lab Solutions experience is preferable.
- LIMS experience is preferable.
- Proven experience working in an ISO/IEC 17025 environment.
- Experience in Fatty Acid Profile Testing.
- Experience in analysis of Vitamins.
- Experience with soil contaminants testing.
- Experience in handling quarantine samples.
- Instrument Calibration experience.
- A strong understanding of laboratory safety procedures and quality assurance protocols.
- Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and report-writing skills.
- Must be legally entitled to work in New Zealand at the time of application.
A tertiary qualification in a relevant field such as Chemistry, Food Science/Technology, or equivalent.
Experience:
Experience in appropriate technical disciplines and quality management systems is mandatory.
