Job description

The American Housing Corporation is on a mission to solve America’s housing crisis through all-out production. We believe America’s affordability crisis is fundamentally a production crisis, and solving it requires a vertically integrated development approach: we buy land, manufacture, install, and sell our homes directly to customers. This is the only way to build at the scale necessary to solve the crisis.

The American Dream is built, not inherited. We’re hiring the best engineers, designers, and builders to solve the hardest problem in America.

As Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading day-to-day production in our manufacturing facility. You will manage technicians, production workflows, schedules, quality, safety, and continuous improvement as we manufacture and assemble our proprietary kit-of-parts for building high-quality housing.

WHAT YOU’LL DO

  • Own daily production operations for the factory, including production planning, labor allocation, workflow execution, safety, quality, and schedule adherence.
  • Lead, manage, and develop a team of production technicians and manufacturing specialists.
  • Translate engineering designs, work instructions, and production plans into reliable factory execution.
  • Coordinate with mechanical engineering, manufacturing engineering, architecture, supply chain, and quality teams to ensure parts, materials, equipment, and instructions are ready for production.
  • Drive consistent execution of standard operating procedures, work instructions, inspection plans, and quality checkpoints.
  • Identify bottlenecks, defects, rework drivers, labor inefficiencies, and equipment constraints; work with engineering and leadership to eliminate them.
  • Establish and track production KPIs, including throughput, labor efficiency, first-pass yield, scrap, rework, downtime, safety incidents, and cost per unit.
  • Support factory ramp-up from prototype and low-rate production into repeatable, scalable manufacturing.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, safe, and disciplined production environment.
  • Help build the production culture: high standards, urgency, ownership, craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing, production operations, industrial operations, construction manufacturing, automotive, aerospace, hardware, building products, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience managing production teams, technicians, operators, tradespeople, or manufacturing specialists.
  • Strong understanding of production systems, shop-floor management, quality control, work instructions, safety practices, and continuous improvement.
  • Experience operating in a high-mix, low-volume or early-stage manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to diagnose production problems quickly and drive practical, hands-on solutions.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to manage schedules, people, materials, equipment, and competing priorities.
  • Comfort working closely with engineering teams to improve manufacturability, assembly methods, tooling, and production processes.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills; able to set clear expectations and hold a high bar for execution.
  • Technical degree, trade background, military experience, or equivalent hands-on manufacturing experience preferred, not required.

COMPENSATION

The overall cash compensation for this position ranges from $100,000 to $150,000. All of our positions also offer a compensation package that includes equity and robust benefits.
