Job description

Band: 6

Hours: 37.5  Monday to Friday 08.30 until 16.30

Contract Type: Permanent

We are seeking a registered professional to join our Safeguarding Team in a Band 6 role, supporting the delivery of high‑quality safeguarding adults practice across the Trust. This is a key role, contributing to the protection of adults at risk and supporting staff to provide safe, effective, and person‑centred care.

You will provide specialist safeguarding advice and support to clinical and non‑clinical staff, ensuring safeguarding concerns are recognised early and managed appropriately in line with legislation, national guidance, and local policy. Working closely with colleagues across services and with partner agencies, you will contribute to a consistent, joined‑up approach to safeguarding adults across the organisation.

What you’ll do

  • Support the delivery of safeguarding training, supervision, and awareness‑raising activities
  • Provide professional advice and guidance on safeguarding adults concerns, including complex decision‑making and risk management
  • Support staff with the identification, management, and escalation of safeguarding issues
  • Support the implementation and embedding of safeguarding policies, procedures, and best practice
  • Contribute to safeguarding audits, reviews, and learning activities, ensuring lessons are shared and embedded into practice
  • Work collaboratively with multi‑agency partners across the Isle of Wight and wider system to promote effective information‑sharing and coordinated responses
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding, professional curiosity, reflective practice, and continuous improvement

What we’re looking for

We are looking for an individual with a passion for safeguarding, excellent communication skills, and the confidence to offer professional advice and constructive challenge when required. You will be able to work autonomously within your scope of practice while contributing positively as part of a supportive safeguarding team.

If you are passionate about safeguarding adults at risk, supporting staff development, and contributing to the continuous improvement of safeguarding practice across Portsmouth and the Isle of Wight, we would be delighted to receive your application.
