Job description
Join our exciting team as a Data Engineer with the following job scope:
- Architect and implement data solutions on our large-scale data platform Hadoop using PySpark.
- Write complex and efficient SQL queries to extract and transform data from various sources.
- Design, build, and maintain scalable and reliable data pipelines using tools like Apache Airflow and Kafka.
- Develop and optimize data processing jobs on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform, leveraging services such as Azure Data Lake, Databricks, and Azure Data Factory.
- Collaborate with data analysts and other stakeholders to understand data requirements and deliver high-quality data products.
- Ensure data quality and integrity across all systems.
- Monitor, troubleshoot, and optimize the performance of our data infrastructure.
- Stay up-to-date with the latest trends and technologies in the Big Data space.
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience as a Data Engineer in a Big Data environment.
- Proven hands-on experience with the Hadoop ecosystem (HDFS, MapReduce, YARN).
- Expert-level proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and NoSQL databases.
- Strong programming skills in Python, specifically with the PySpark library and Versioning control systems (git).
- Extensive experience of workflow management tools, particularly Apache Airflow.
- Basic knowledge of messaging and streaming platforms, especially Apache Kafka.
- Hands-on experience with ticket systems (JIRA, Azure Devops).
- Experience with cloud platforms, preferably Microsoft Azure.
- Basic skills with business intelligence tools (PowerBI, Tableau).
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently as well as in an intercultural, agile team.
- Excellent communication skills in English, German skills are a plus.
