Job description
Job Purpose:
The role is to provide full administrative support to the Underwriting Team based in our Manchester office.
This is an ideal opportunity for candidates in the early stages of their underwriting career or an accomplished administrative professional to join a highly experienced and respected Professional Risks team who consistently produce profitable results.
Training will be provided and study towards professional qualifications is supported.
Key Responsibilities:
In supporting the underwriting team's efforts in maintaining a successful and profitable account you will be involved in the following tasks:
- Full administration of FastTrack renewals including liaising with brokers to secure instructions and final processing of the business.
- Dealing with a variety of Mid Term Adjustments Including Change of addresses, change of names and increased indemnity limits.
- Production of a variety of reports for management.
- Providing day-to-day support of the underwriting team in dealing with incoming telephone queries and where necessary ensuring that matters are referred to the appropriate underwriter.
- Dealing with and resolving a variety of accounting queries including direct debit queries.
- Processing of new business orders on behalf of underwriters.
- General administration of the renewal process including chasing up of outstanding renewals.
- Attending underwriting meetings and taking of minutes as required.
- Undertake any other ad hoc activities/project work required.
Performance Objectives
- Providing efficient, accurate and effective administration support to the underwriting team.
- Deliver service standards in line with TMHCC services standard for policy issue and premium debiting.
- Effectively manage the diary system to assist in achieving Manchester retention targets.
- Assist in delivery of Manchester new business budget.
- Work with the team and marketing department when required to promote TMHCC in the region.
Skills and Experience Specification:
- Experience of working within a similar role (typically 3-5 yrs experience)
- PI underwriting knowledge is desirable but not essential (commercial SME background acceptable)
- Min 3 A levels at Grade C or above (or equivalent)
- Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) to underpin broker development and relationship building.
- IT literate and experience of Microsoft packages
- Excellent organisation skills
- Working towards insurance qualifications is desirable but not essential
