AECOM is searching for a talented Process Mechanical Wastewater Engineer for a full-time position based in our Burnaby, BC office. The role of process mechanical wastewater treatment engineer with our Wastewater Team is a dynamic position well suited to an individual who is good at managing multiple tasks and deadlines and working with multi-disciplinary teams.
Technical Responsibilities
- Lead and support delivery of municipal wastewater infrastructure projects.
- Apply multi-disciplinary engineering expertise to planning, design, and project execution.
- Prepare engineering reports, technical memoranda, specifications, permits, process control narratives, and cost estimates.
- Perform wastewater process calculations and develop detailed technical designs.
- Support construction, site inspections, commissioning, and project implementation.
- Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior staff.
Project Management and Business Development Responsibilities
- Lead multi-disciplinary wastewater projects, coordinating teams across structural, architectural, mechanical, process, I&C, and electrical disciplines.
- Provide overall project leadership across project management, controls, engineering, design, and construction management to achieve client and business objectives.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships through project delivery and close-out.
- Define project scope, execution strategies, deliverables, schedules, budgets, and quality requirements.
- Oversee project planning, work breakdown structures, fee estimates, scheduling, and contract administration.
- Lead interdisciplinary coordination, design reviews, workshops, and decision-making while managing scope, change, risk, cost, and schedule performance.
- Monitor project progress and deliver accurate technical and financial reporting to clients and stakeholders.
- Ensure compliance with quality, safety, and regulatory standards while delivering high-performing project outcomes.
- Foster a collaborative, client-focused team environment and engage stakeholders through effective communication.
- Support business growth through proposal development, pursuit planning, and identifying new opportunities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Chemical, Mechanical Environmental or Civil Engineering or relevant engineering field
- 6+ years of Technical Experience, Project Management, Design and Construction experience in Wastewater Treatment Plants and related infrastructure
- Registered P.Eng in BC or ability to obtain within 6 months
- Must possess a valid driver’s license and access to a vehicle
Preferred Qualifications:
- Certification such as PMP, CCE, PgMP or related certifications
- Proficient in common desktop packages i.e Word, Excel, MS Project and MS Powerpoint
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, problem solving and analytical skills
- Motivated, team player. Independent, organized with strong business acumen
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Sponsorship for Canadian employment authorization is not available for this position.
