A Brief Overview

Oversees the development and operations of Avera Orthotics and is responsible for the clinical performance, financial performance, set up, development, quality assurance, business development, sales, customer service and strategic growth. Responsible for professional orthotics for ambulatory patients at Avera. Evaluates patients for appropriate orthotic treatment. In consultation with clinical staff, therapists, referring physicians and determines an optimal treatment plan and selects appropriate orthoses. This position is responsible for oversight of the design, fabrication fitting and modification of orthoses and functions independently in nearly all patient care situations.

What you will do

  • Coordinates inventory management – par levels, ordering, and maintaining supply space. Maintains supply of orthoses, DME when needed, supplies and components.
  • Evaluates and treats patients for appropriate orthotic and treatment.
  • Participates and assists in the Administration of the orthotics and/or prosthetics modification lab/space.
  • Provides guidance and direction to peers and referring resources on scope of skill set for program development. Responsible for Orthotics programs space. Consults when necessary with clinical staff, therapists and providers on optimal treatment plan.
  • Attends continuing education conferences and shares information with other collaborative health care associates.
  • Provides leadership to process improvement activities and department's educational opportunities.
  • Interfaces with referral sources.
  • Expert knowledge of billing and coding.
  • Expert knowledge of Accreditation Standards and provides leadership in preparing and participating in surveys.
  • Ability to work at assigned clinic and help develop outreaches when appropriate.

Required Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • Certified Orthotist (CO) - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, & Pedorthics Upon Hire or
  • Certified Prosthetist (CP) - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, & Pedorthics Upon Hire or
  • DME Specialist (CDME) - Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) Upon Hire or
  • Certified Pedorthist (C.Ped.) - American Board for Certification in Orthotics, Prosthetics, & Pedorthics Upon Hire or
  • Orthotic Fitter (COF) - Board of Certification/Accreditation (BOC) Upon Hire

Preferred Education, License/Certification, or Work Experience:

  • 1 year of Fellowship
  • 4-6 years of development in Orthotics and Prosthetics
