Certified Nurse Midwives at Cooley Dickinson OB-GYN & Midwifery provide expert care and support throughout a patient’s reproductive life span from teen years through menopause. During pregnancy, Midwives partner with pregnant people and their families to promote optimal health in pregnancy and childbirth, with a focus on personalized care, education and informed choice. Our team of midwives provides prenatal care in collaboration with a multi-disciplinary team of health care professionals.
Under the general direction of the CDMG Practice Manager, and Practice Physician(s), the Midwife is responsible for:
• Assessing the health status of patients by obtaining health and medical histories, performing physical examinations, and diagnosing health and developmental problems.
• Managing the care of women (including LGBTQ+ patients) during labor, delivery and the initial post-partum period.
We are seeking a per diem Certified Nurse Midwife to support our inpatient and outpatient clinic teams on an as-needed basis. All births are attended at the Childbirth Center at Cooley Dickinson Hospital. Our outpatient clinics are located at 22 Atwood Dr in Northampton MA and 170 University Dr in Amherst MA.
Job Summary
Responsible for safe and personalized care to patients in the antepartum, intrapartum, postpartum, and routine GYN settings.Essential Functions
Provide prenatal, intrapartum, postpartum, and/or newborn care to patients.
Monitor fetal development by listening to fetal heartbeat, taking external uterine measurements, identifying fetal position, or estimating fetal size and weight.
Document patients' health histories, symptoms, physical conditions, or other diagnostic information.
Provide patients with direct family planning services, such as inserting intrauterine devices, dispensing oral contraceptives, and fitting cervical barriers, including cervical caps or diaphragms.
Prescribe medications as permitted by state regulations.
Develop and implement individualized plans for health care management.
Explain procedures to patients, family members, staff members, or others.
Order and interpret diagnostic or laboratory tests.
