The Manager In Flight Training & Checking is accountable for the strategic leadership, governance, and assurance of Cabin Crew Line Training and Checking across a complex, multi‑fleet operation. The role sets direction and establishes the frameworks and standards required to ensure all training and checking activities are delivered safely, consistently, and in compliance with regulatory requirements, company standards, and aviation safety principles. The role provides leadership to the Deputy Managers, In-Flight Training & Checking, focusing on capability development and the promotion of a strong safety culture rather than day‑to‑day operational delivery.

Strong stakeholder engagement is essential, with the role partnering closely with senior leaders across Flight Operations, Cabin Crew, Safety, Quality, and Workforce Planning functions to influence outcomes and communicate complex safety and operational matters clearly at executive level.

You will have:

  • Extensive leadership experience within large, complex airline operations, preferably in training, checking, safety or operational assurance environments.
  • Demonstrated experience leading functions that support high-volume, multi-fleet and multi-base cabin crew operations, with the ability to balance operational delivery and strategic oversight.
  • Proven experience operating within a highly regulated aviation environment, including direct accountability for compliance with aviation regulatory authorities (e.g. CASA) and internal safety management systems.
  • Experience managing leaders and specialist roles across geographically dispersed teams, including indirect leadership of trainers and checkers.
  • Demonstrated capability overseeing operational risk, safety assurance outcomes and continuous improvement initiatives in a large airline context.
  • Experience engaging with senior stakeholders across Flight Operations, Cabin Crew Leadership, Quality Assurance, Compliance, Safety, Workforce Planning and Industrial Relations functions.
  • Tertiary qualification in Aviation, Safety, Training, Management or a related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Recognised qualifications or accreditation in aviation training, checking, or safety management (e.g. SMS, auditing, or instructional systems design) highly desirable.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of CASA regulatory requirements applicable to cabin crew training and checking.
  • Leadership or executive development qualifications highly regarded
