This role is based in our 5 Howick Place office.

Role Purpose

We are currently recruiting for a talented Legal Counsel to join the Informa Connect Legal Team in London on a temporary basis. This is an exciting opportunity to become a valued business partner to a global B2B events business.

You will report directly to the Interim Senior Corporate Counsel for Informa Connect, playing a key role in ensuring legal compliance, providing strategic legal guidance, and contributing to the success of our global operations, predominantly across the following Informa Connect verticals: Tech, Global Finance, Life Sciences, Food Services, Aesthetic and Longevity Medicine and B2C events. The role will support a wide portfolio of marquee event brands such as SuperReturn, BIO-Europe, The AI Summit  and Fan Expo, as well as Informa Connect’s training, subscription and media businesses.

The role requires a proactive, business-oriented legal mind with broad legal acumen who excels at enabling business objectives whilst ensuring legal compliance and mitigating legal risks. The individual will need strong expertise in commercial law, contract negotiation, brand protection , and stakeholder engagement and management.

The Informa Connect Legal Team sits within the Informa PLC Legal & Governance Team, a highly regarded and award-winning business partner to the Informa Group.

Key Responsibilities

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Commercial Contracts: drafting, reviewing, and negotiating a diverse range of commercial contracts, such as customer terms and conditions, vendor agreements, IT agreements, barter agreements, speaker agreements, event management and collaboration agreements, and NDAs;
  • Template Management: updating various agreement templates to align with changing business policies, legal risks and regulatory compliance requirements;
  • Legal Support: responding to ad hoc legal queries from the Informa Connect division, including contract and payment disputes, attendee misconduct, and waivers for event activities;
  • Intellectual Property: advising on IP-related issues and dispute resolution strategies, and assisting with management of Informa Connect’s trademark portfolio;

Stakeholder Engagement: engaging with internal teams across Informa Connect and the Informa Group to build strong working relationships, including showing initiative and participation in the wider Connect Legal Team. The role may involve liaising with external counsel, as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 3 years or more of qualified legal experience (PQE is a given as a guide only).
  • Strong experience within an in-house legal function, either through secondments or prior in-house experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in commercial legal matters of varying complexity, legal risk management, governance, and commercial law. A good understanding of Data Privacy and AI laws and regulations would be beneficial.    
  • Experience managing and resolving legal disputes to an effective solution.
