For over 30 years, Procare Solutions has been dedicated to empowering early childhood educators by providing products and services that enable them to focus on the care, safety and education of children. We recognize the responsibility that comes with nurturing and educating children, which is why our child care management solutions are designed to automate business processes, help ensure safety and compliance, communicate with families and provide educational resources and training to help teachers and children thrive.

Over 40,000 satisfied customers have chosen Procare Solutions as their trusted partner in providing exceptional care for young minds.

A Little About the Role

As a Lead Mobile Engineer on our team you will help build, maintain, and direct best-in-class native mobile applications for iOS and Android. We have built solutions which enable childcare organizations to efficiently and intuitively manage their business, so they can
focus on the children. The demands for these organizations are high and you will be a part in helping our customers easily manage their growing business complexity by making their daily demands simple to navigate through our mobile platforms. This includes features to
enable communication with teachers, parents and leads; tracking and recording daily activities for children, staff schedules and sign-ins, as well as parent payments and notifications to name a few.

You'll be a key member of our growing engineering team while we expand on existing features and deliver new functionality across both iOS and Android platforms. Our fast-paced, agile environment uses modern technologies where you will help optimize our mobile applications for stability, performance, and exceptional user experience. We value self-starters with the ability to communicate ideas effectively and contribute to our culture of respect, dedication, and fun. Clean code, principles over dogma, and balancing the pull between practical vs perfect solutions round out the qualities we seek and value.

What you’ll do:

  • Collaborate with stakeholders across Design, Product Management, and Engineering
  • Architect, design, develop, and deploy mobile features across iOS and Android platforms
  • Direct the work of a focused mobile engineering scrum team / pod
  • Coach other members of the engineering team on mobile development best practices
  • Write performant, maintainable mobile code while iterating and shipping rapidly
  • Ensure appropriate automated test coverage for optimal product reliability and release velocity
  • Ensure apps run efficiently and intuitively across all device types and form factors
  • Make sure visual designs are meticulously implemented to spec on both platforms
  • Recommend solutions that leverage platform-specific offerings for the best native app experience
  • Refactor existing code to improve maintainability and efficiency
  • Evaluate and implement cross-platform solutions as needed ie: Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM)
  • Integrate mobile applications with RESTful APIs and back-end services
  • Configure mobile app monitoring, crash reporting, and analytics systems
  • Contribute to improving and enforcing mobile development, Agile, and CI/CD delivery best practices
  • Present new ideas and respectfully debate those ideas with the team

Our ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s degree Computer Science or related experience
  • 8+ years' of experience building native mobile applications
  • Expertise with iOS development (Swift, Xcode) and Android development (Android Studio)
  • Advanced knowledge of both iOS and Android development environments and ecosystems
  • Understanding of Apple's Human Interface Guidelines and Google's Material Design principles
  • Significant knowledge of mobile UI/UX design principles, patterns, and best practices
  • Experience with cross-platform development approaches, particularly Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM) or similar technologies
  • Familiar with mobile architecture patterns such as VIPER, MVP, MVVM, MVC, and Clean Architecture
  • Strong experience integrating with RESTful APIs to connect mobile applications to back-end services
  • Experience with mobile app deployment processes for both App Store and Google Play Store
  • Knowledge of mobile CI/CD pipelines and automated testing frameworks
  • Experience with mobile app performance optimization, memory management, and battery efficiency
  • Strong knowledge of Git and branching models in a collaborative coding environment
  • Experience with mobile analytics, crash reporting, and monitoring tools
  • Communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrated track record of working successfully across engineering, design and product teams
  • Experience with Agile processes in a structured setting (Scrum and/or Kanban)
  • Experience using data for decision-making related to team and system performance, relying heavily on mobile telemetry and user analytics
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
