The Systems Engineering and Test Capabilities (SETC) organization is currently hiring a Senior Principal Systems Engineer – Integrated Product Team Lead, for StormBreaker LIT program to join our Tucson, AZ location.  SETC is an exciting and challenging environment where you will have the opportunity to design, develop and partner with multi-disciplines to shape innovative solutions for our customers. The Senior Principal Systems Engineer - Team Lead, StormBreaker LIT will be responsible for technical leadership as a Systems Engineering Lead, contributing directly to the successful management of the scope, schedule, and cost associated with a multi-disciplinary team. Responsibilities for this position include managing system and subsystem requirements, providing Systems Engineering technical oversight during integration and test activities, participating in verification and validation efforts for the system, providing Systems Engineering expertise in system architecture and design, and ensuring earned value management (EVM) practices are applied to monitor and control project performance.

What You Will Do

  • Lead a team of systems engineers and multidiscipline engineers  

  • Team management & leadership and project planning 

  • Cost Account Manager (CAM) responsible for quarterly Estimates at Complete, monthly WebStatus, IMS updates, LREs, and necessary variance narratives  

  • Lead Design Reviews and Raytheon Gates (PDR, SRR, FCA, etc) 

  • Management of system requirements through verification 

  • Develop, update, and manage Verification Plans and Reports 

  • Cross-functional collaboration and coordination 

  • Write Basis of Estimates (BOEs) for Requests for Proposals (RFPs) within the effort and support activities through Gate 4 

  • Coordinate with program leadership on long term strategy and planning 

  • Review and support trade studies, down-selects, and other analyses 

  • CDRL management, report development, and delivery  

  • Develop materials for customer meetings (Reviews, Technical Interface Meetings, status meetings, etc.) and brief customer representatives 

Qualifications You Must Have

  • Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM preferred) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience.

  • Experience in Systems Engineering, Architecture, and/or Design 

  • Experience working with military systems; tactics, techniques, and procedures and work with the DoD customer

  • Experience with earned value management (EVM) principles, including planning, tracking, and reporting on cost, schedule, and/or performance metrics

Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience on a Missile Program 

  • Experience working on a cross-functional team of Systems Engineers and multidiscipline engineers  

  • Post Graduate Degree in in Engineering, Computer Science, Math or Physics and 10 years’ engineering experience

  • Understanding of Systems Engineering Product Development Cycle as it relates to the Software Development life cycle

  • Familiarity with Agile Methodologies, with the ability to apply principles to effectively manage tasks and collaborate within cross-functional teams

  • Ability to evaluate and clarify systems engineering tasks, translating them into well-defined, measurable, and actionable deliverables in support of earned value management (EVM) practices and program objectives.

  • Detailed experience in one or more of the following domains: embedded software, RF signal processing, GNC, RF system integration & test, 6DOF/model development

  • Prior work experience giving technical briefs or presentations with strong verbal and written communication skills

  • Software and firmware architecture, design, development, integration, testing, and verification

  • Interfacing with customers

  • Developing & Refining CONOPS, System Architecture, System Requirement, and Requirements Verification Strategies & Plans

  • Performing Functional & Physical Analyses and Allocation

  • Creating & Maintaining Specifications

  • Subassembly and System Integration & Verification

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
