Active and existing security clearance required on day 1Collins Aerospace is seeking a highly skilled Cybersecurity Engineer II to support secure enterprise environments focusing on the Department of Defense (DoD). The ideal candidate will possess strong expertise in Risk Management Framework (RMF) compliance, network architecture, operating system administration, and cybersecurity best practices. This role requires hands-on technical proficiency across Windows and Linux platforms, network infrastructure, and security controls, along with the ability to support accreditation activities and maintain mission-critical systems. The selected candidate will play a key role in designing, securing, and optimizing infrastructure to ensure operational resilience, regulatory compliance, and performance excellence in a high-security environment.
This role will be worked onsite in Sterling, VA. Requires active and transferrable Secret clearance.
What You Will Do:
Design, develop, and implement technical solutions to ensure compliance with Department of Defense (DoD) Risk Management Framework (RMF) security requirements.
Architect, deploy, and optimize enterprise network solutions, enhancing performance, scalability, and security across existing and new infrastructure.
Configure, build, deploy, and maintain Windows and Linux operating system environments in accordance with security and operational best practices.
Support the Government Information System Security Manager (ISSM) in RMF accreditation efforts, including documentation development, control implementation, assessment coordination, and continuous monitoring activities.
Install, configure, maintain, and troubleshoot firewalls, routers, and switches to ensure optimal network performance, segmentation, and security posture.
Validate and verify hardware and software functionality through testing, diagnostics, and performance evaluation.
Develop and maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including system configurations, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and operational workflows to ensure consistent and secure system administration.
Qualifications You Must Have:
Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and minimum 2 years of prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field
Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance
Linux or Windows experience
Experience with Active Directory, VMware, Administration, backup and recovery
Qualifications We Prefer:
Department of Defense Directive (DoDD) 8140 / 8570 Certification requirements (CompTIA Security+ CE or equivalent certification and an Operating System Certification)
Experience with NISPOM, JAFAN, JSIG, DFARS and/or DoD/RMF
Experience with data storage, NAS, and SAN technologies and solutions
Experience using VMWare vCenter, vSphere, and ESX and/or other virtual computing methods.
Experience supporting engineers in software, simulations, and hardware development.
Experience with Microsoft WSUS, MECM, and/or Exchange

The salary range for this role is 75,800 USD - 144,200 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
