Job description

This is a hands-on field-based role responsible for the ongoing maintenance and performance of rural solar systems across the Waikato. You’ll be the key technician on the ground, carrying out site visits, diagnosing issues, completing minor repairs, and ensuring systems are operating safely and efficiently. You’ll also maintain accurate digital records and communicate findings with the wider team. Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out scheduled maintenance and performance checks on rural solar systems
  • Diagnose underperforming systems through site visits and assessments
  • Complete minor repairs and corrective maintenance work on-site
  • Ensure all work complies with NZ electrical regulations and AS/NZS standards
  • Record all activity accurately in online systems and job reports
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to clients and internal teams
  • Maintain accurate records of work completed, parts used, and time on site
  • Identify and escalate recurring or systemic issues

You are a qualified electrician with solar experience who enjoys practical, field-based work and taking ownership of outcomes.

  • NZ Registered Electrician (or equivalent qualification)
  • Ideally you will have 2+ years’ experience in solar PV installation or maintenance
  • Strong understanding of solar systems (inverters, panels, batteries, monitoring)
  • Solid knowledge of AS/NZS electrical standards
  • Confident using digital tools for reporting and job management
  • Self-managing, organised, and comfortable working independently
  • Full, clean NZ driver’s licence
  • Rural or off-grid solar experience and familiarity with remote monitoring or field service systems would be advantageous
  • Ideally exposure to tools like Airtable or Google Workspace
