Overview Performs a variety of specialized technical and confidential human resources duties for the Compensation department. Responsible for the processing of employee data through HRIS and maintains accuracy through regular audits. Performs technical review of employee records and processes employee transactions. Assists with the planning, administration, and implementation of all aspects of compensation including job descriptions, credential evaluation, performance appraisals, wage and salary management, and incentive programs. Qualifications EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENT Associate's degree from a 2-year college or technical school in Business or a related field; or two (2) years (60 credit hours) coursework from a 4-year college or university; or three (3) years of experience working in human resources; or an equivalent combination of education and experience. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT An additional one (1) year of related experience required. COMPUTER SKILLS An individual should know Database software, Human Resources systems, Internet software, Spreadsheet software, and Word Processing software. CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS Must possess a valid driver's license with a driving history verified through a motor vehicle report that meets the requirements for Cherokee Nation underwriting rating. OTHER QUALIFICATIONS The employee must not be and will not be under sanction by the United States Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Inspector General (OIG) or by the General Services Administration (GSA) or listed on the OIG's Cumulative Sanction Report, or the GSA's List of Excluded Providers, or listed on the OIG's List of Excluded Individuals/Entities (LEIE). Knowledge of human resources policies and practices. Understanding of employee classification and compensation. Must be able to operate standard computer programs and office machines. Must display appropriate telephone etiquette and possess excellent people skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information. Must be able to handle multiple projects/tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines. PHYSICAL DEMANDS While performing the duties of this Job, the employee is regularly required to sit, talk or hear, and use hands to finger, handle, or feel. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee may frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds. The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to correct/adjust focus. WORK ENVIRONMENT The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Examines employee files to answer inquiries and provides information to authorized persons. Answers and directs calls, emails, faxes, and mail to the appropriately entity/person/department. Develops and revises Standard Operating Procedures. Processes employee performance appraisals. Enters new hire information into HRIS and OESC and ensures the accuracy and integrity of the data. Records and assists in maintaining employee updated certifications, licenses, and education. Maintains, updates, and emails the salary schedule and career ladder master list. Processes Employee Action Notices and prints and closes them out once returned from payroll. Provides support for the annual performance review and merit processes. Develops and generates requested HRIS and other reports. Maintains a database of all job descriptions, according to CN standards, performing annual audits and service requests. Acts as the first point of contact for data requests from HR partners and CN Management and provides standard responses as directed, escalating the questions when necessary. Ensures all information relevant to compensation analysis is correctly recorded in the HRIS and performs annual audits to maintain accuracy. Tracks the workflow of compensation projects and documents the status of pending and completed requests. Assists in corresponding with management regarding employee salary changes and provide technical support as needed. Assists in compiling information for annual compensation surveys. Reviews employee personnel files, gathers information, and reports findings to Analysts or Supervisors. Assists in special projects as required. Other duties may be assigned.
