Job description

We move 5% of the world’s money. Using a debit or credit card to fund a transfer is one of the most popular payment methods used by our customers, and we use  acquirers to process ~£1bn in monthly card payment volume.

A card payment first passes through our fraud and authentication engines, determining if it’s safe to process. This is managed by the Cards Pay-in Authentication team, the sister team to Orchestration.

The Cards Pay-in Orchestration team decides which acquirer a payment should be routed to for maximum chance of being accepted. In this role you’ll be responsible for the product vision, strategy and roadmap for Orchestration. This requires:

  • Defining the multi-year vision for our orchestration infrastructure to move from static rules to dynamic, machine-learning routing - and working with your engineers and analysts to deliver this vision.

  • Ensuring our payments are fully optimised to be routed between our acquirers, adjusting for regional / issuer level differences.

  • Managing the acquirer portfolio to support the growth of card pay-ins via new markets, card schemes and product types e.g. e-commerce payments.

  • Keeping acquirer costs as low as possible for our customers, balancing performance with the cost of acquiring.

In crafting the strategy and roadmap for Orchestration, you’ll balance the opportunities against the regulatory, compliance and engineering needs of the domain.

Qualifications:

  • You have at least 5+ years experience in a Senior Product Manager role; someone who has implemented successful product strategies with measurable, successful outcomes

  • You’re highly analytical and are comfortable using data - both quantitative and qualitative - to identify opportunities, prioritize initiatives and refine the product strategy.

  • You can demonstrate how you’ve collaborated with engineers and analysts to successfully launch a new feature or product to market and/or can demonstrate how you’ve made significant improvements to an existing product

  • You’ve worked closely with back-end engineers and are comfortable making technical trade-offs to deliver faster for customers

  • You’re comfortable with ambiguity and not knowing all the answers, and can bring structure, focus, and direction to complex situations

Bonus:

  • You have specific experience working with card payments (either within acquirers, orchestrators or card schemes)

  • Experience managing complex, high-throughput backend systems where real-time decisioning and data normalization are critical e.g., Payments, Ad-tech, Logistics, or Trading

We’re people without borders — without judgement or prejudice, too. We want to work with the best people, no matter their background. So if you’re passionate about learning new things and keen to join our mission, you’ll fit right in.

Also, qualifications aren’t that important to us. If you’ve got great experience, and you’re great at articulating your thinking, we’d like to hear from you.

And because we believe that diverse teams build better products, we’d especially love to hear from you if you’re from an under-represented demographic.

For everyone, everywhere. We're people building money without borders  — without judgement or prejudice, too. We believe teams are strongest when they are diverse, equitable and inclusive.

We're proud to have a truly international team, and we celebrate our differences.
Inclusive teams help us live our values and make sure every Wiser feels respected, empowered to contribute towards our mission and able to progress in their careers.
