Job description
Software Engineer 4 (Architect Level)
Job Location: Chennai, India
Our Department: AECO / Owner & Public Sector
Are you a visionary engineer who can architect scalable Cloud SaaS platforms while redefining engineering speed through agentic AI workflows?
What You Will Do
Trimble is seeking a Software Engineer 4 (Staff Software Engineer) to serve as a technical anchor for our Owner & Public Sector division in India. In this architect-level role, you will provide the technical vision for complex, large-scale infrastructure solutions while pioneering a new era of engineering productivity.
You will lead the transition to an AI-augmented Product Development Life Cycle (PDLC) at scale. This involves:
Architectural Leadership: Designing resilient, high-availability Cloud SaaS architectures that support the digital backbone of public infrastructure.
Agentic Workflow Design: Beyond just using coding assistants, you will architect systems that integrate AI agents into the fabric of our development—automating complex refactoring, parallelizing execution, and creating "self-healing" CI/CD pipelines.
Technical Strategy: Partnering with Global Product Managers and Architects to bridge the gap between long-term business goals and immediate technical execution.
Mentorship & Culture: Serving as a "Player-Coach" for P2 and P3 engineers, fostering a culture of high-velocity delivery, technical excellence, and AI-native thinking.
Rapid Prototyping: Leading high-stakes Proof of Concepts (POCs) for new product features, using AI tooling to validate architectural assumptions in days, not weeks.
What Skills & Experience You Should Bring
Education & Experience: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science or related field, with 8–12+ years of professional experience in deep-stack engineering.
Architectural Mastery: Proven track record of designing and deploying distributed systems, microservices, and multi-tenant SaaS applications.
Polyglot Proficiency: Expert-level knowledge in at least one major stack, with the versatility to lead in either:
Stack A: .NET Core, C#, Microservices, and Modern Frontend (Angular/React).
Stack B: Node.js, Java/Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and React.
AI Tooling & Automation: Deep experience with coding assistants and agents (Cursor, Copilot, Auto-GPT, etc.) and a clear vision for how to embed these into an enterprise-grade SDLC.
Systemic Thinking: Ability to manage technical debt while aggressively pursuing innovation, ensuring that speed never compromises security or scalability.
Global Collaboration: Experience working with cross-continental teams, specifically bridging communication between India and EMEA/US offices.
