Rakuten Mart, Rakuten's warehouse-based online supermarket business, is a new business model that combines the market  of a major retail chain with the agility and localized merchandising of a small, independent store. By leveraging the unique characteristics of this business model to offer an innovative product lineup, we aim to revolutionize the domestic food distribution market and create a more valuable society for both users and producers.

Within the general consumer distribution market, the food distribution market, in particular, has been slow to adopt e-commerce and digitalization. Rakuten aims to promote the e-commerce and digitalization of food distribution by advancing its online supermarket business, thereby empowering society through food distribution reform.This position offers the opportunity to participate in the expansion of this business with the goal of establishing a leading position in Japan.

Department Overview

You will take on a producer role overseeing website operations and promotional production for Rakuten Mart, an online supermarket offering fresh foods and daily necessities.

Mission within the Business Leverage Rakuten’s proprietary data sources to formulate mid- to long-term marketing strategies and to plan and execute short-term promotional initiatives, driving customer acquisition and nurturing.

Mart Planning & Marketing Section, Creative Design Group: Engage end-to-end in producing feature landing pages that promote fresh foods, daily essentials, and curated gourmet items, while managing on-site banners, content, and announcements (release/close scheduling). The scope spans from web design to operational management.

Position Details

Planning and executing marketing initiatives: Identify customer needs and develop effective marketing strategies to enhance purchase intent, then drive end-to-end execution.

Production and direction of feature landing pages: Lead planning, design direction, and production progress for special landing pages that showcase fresh produce, daily necessities, and curated gourmet items. Create compelling pages that inspire genuine purchase desire.

On-site content operations management: Oversee release/close schedules and updates for on-site banners, content, and announcements, ensuring information remains fresh and engaging. Leverage web design expertise to maintain and improve a user-friendly, visually clear site experience.

Data analysis and improvement proposals: Analyze traffic and user behavior data to inform UI/UX enhancements and new initiatives. Incorporate customer feedback to continually refine and elevate the service.

Our team comprises professionals from diverse backgrounds, including in-house corporate marketing, design engineering at manufacturers, and recent graduates.

Mandatory Qualifications:

  • 3+ years’ experience as a Creative Director for Web sites.
  • Direction of feature pages and promotional campaigns, along with experience in operations management.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Hands-on experience in e-commerce (EC) services.
  • Proactive, self-starter mindset with the ability to independently lead projects.
  • Proven experience in project and/or team management.
  • Experience in defining and managing KPIs.
  • Experience in design direction, with a working knowledge of coding.
