Job description
As an Electrical Wiring Design Engineer, you will join Peterborough team to support our activities within the Automotive sector.
You will play a key role in the design, development, validation, and integration of embedded control systems and electrical architectures for complex engineering applications.
This role focuses on control model development, embedded software generation, electrical schematic design, subsystem integration, and lifecycle engineering support within a highly regulated and performance-driven environment.

Key Responsibilities:
- Design and implement control strategies using model-based development techniques.
- Perform Model-in-the-Loop (MiL), Software-in-the-Loop (SiL), and Hardware-in-the-Loop (HiL) testing activities.
- Generate embedded production code using MATLAB / Simulink and support deployment onto target hardware.
- Integrate control models with wider machine systems, software platforms, and physical hardware.
- Support validation, calibration, commissioning, and system integration activities.
- Create, modify, and maintain clear, standards-compliant electrical schematics using Creo Schematics and Visio.
- Decompose complex electrical systems into well-defined subsystems with clear interfaces and robust power/signal architectures.
- Manage and maintain Electrical Bill of Materials (BOM) including component selection, configuration control, and change management.
- Ensure designs comply with electrical standards, wiring conventions, grounding, protection, EMC, and safety requirements.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including mechanical, systems, software, manufacturing, and suppliers.
- Support design reviews, engineering changes, issue resolution, and full product lifecycle updates.
- Produce technical documentation, reports, and release packs to support project milestones.
Required Skills:
- Strong background in embedded controls systems and electrical integration.
- Experience with MATLAB / Simulink for model-based design and code generation.
- Knowledge of MiL, SiL, and HiL validation processes.
- Proficiency in electrical schematic tools such as Creo Schematics and Visio.
- Understanding of subsystem integration, interfaces, signal integrity, and power distribution.
- Experience with BOM management and engineering change processes.
- Knowledge of electrical standards, EMC, grounding, and safety compliance.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Control Engineering, Mechatronics, Automotive Engineering, or related discipline.
Desirable Skills:
- Experience in calibration and commissioning of control systems.
- Familiarity with CANbus, PLCs, industrial automation, or mobile machinery systems.
- Experience within regulated sectors such as Automotive or Energy,
- Understanding of functional safety standards.
