Job Summary:

Position Summary: The Non-Traditional Peer Mentor focuses on improving students’ sense of belonging at UWSP. The position’s role and responsibility are aimed at providing a supportive community with available resources through mentorship, social and engagement activities, and personal and professional development that promotes student success. This role is also responsible for continuing the message of inclusivity for all students served under SET at UWSP. Preference given to work study students, but work study is not required.
Pay: $15 an hour, 6-8 hours per week.
Supervision: The Non-traditional Peer Mentor reports to the Non-Traditional Student Services Coordinator under the Department of Student Experience and Transformation.
Responsibilities:

Meet bi-weekly with the NTSS staff

The Coordinator will assign you a student load of non-traditional, commuter, and/or transfer students to help them transition to UWSP and community. Meeting with assigned students one-in-one or in a small group. Conduct outreach campaigns through Navigate to them on a regular basis.

Represent SET and UWSP in a manner that exemplifies genuine respect and professionalism

Preferred to be available to work 6-8 hours a week at the with the program between the hours of 8am-8pm with flexibility to weekend coverage of additional events like ViewPoints, STAR, DCA events, etc.

Be courteous to all students entering the center/office while asking them to sign in on kiosk to maintain a record of attendance and student flow

Maintain the organization and cleanliness of the center/office space at all times

Assist students that have questions and be able to schedule meetings with the Coordinator

Create, manage, and execute programming with the guidance of the Coordinator that focuses on social justice, advocacy, community development, education, training, and any additional topics that impact the non-traditional, commuter, and transfer students.

Promote the goals of the SET and UWSP

Clerical tasks of answering calls, emails, and other tasks as assigned
